The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

The Japanese company announced that it will start production in December 2023, after investing 317 million euros at its facility in Sakarya to produce batteries for plug-in hybrid vehicles at the beginning of the year. The second generation is aimed to reduce the cost by 40% and increase the range by 20% with the bipolar LFP battery. In a bipolar battery with a higher power density, only one current collector is used for the anode and cathode. Thus, the production speed can increase while the production cost decreases. This system is currently used in nickel-metal hydride batteries in hybrid vehicles.
Toyota will launch its third-generation nickel-cathode bipolar battery that will increase the range to 1,000 kilometers in 2027-2028. The company says it will be 10% cheaper than the first-generation solution.
Solid-state batteries are expected to meet with customers in the fourth and fifth generations. In this way, it is planned that the cost of vehicle batteries will decrease to reasonable levels, while the range will gradually increase to 1,448 kilometers.

According to Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin&#8217;s first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in serial production is &#8220;on schedule&#8221; to debut in 2026. The British automaker will outline its five-year goals on June 27.
At its capital markets day on June 27, the British automaker will provide information on all the new vehicles it wants to introduce over the next five years, including plug-in hybrids. However, based on Stroll&#8217;s comments, it appears that Aston Martin won&#8217;t bet much on EVs and will instead concentrate on plug-in hybrids.
But according to chief creative officer Mark Reichman, the impending battery-powered Aston would be &#8220;a new product&#8221; on &#8220;a new platform,&#8221; rather than &#8220;putting batteries in an old platform.&#8221;
The platform&#8217;s specifics have not yet been made public, but technical head Roberto Fedeli has assured that it will not result from any collaboration with the Chinese automaker Geely, which recently increased its shareholding in Aston Martin.
<h2>Fedeli: Our thought is that electric is not a powertrain but a new vehicle dynamic. For this reason, we have in mind our own road map.</h2>
According to Lawrence Stroll, the brand&#8217;s planned plug-in hybrids will &#8220;last well into the 2030s,&#8221; with the Valhalla, Aston&#8217;s first PHEV, scheduled to be on sale by the end of next year.  The Cygnet was an upscale city automobile designed by Aston Martin using a Toyota iQ as a base. Its sole objective was to reduce the average carbon dioxide emissions over the whole lineup.
Now that Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz have a collaboration for their road-going automobile business, we could see something similar, potentially in the shape of a rebadged, lightly reengineered EV from Mercedes.
What is known is that Stroll intends to use the new car portfolio to construct at least 10,000 automobiles annually, each made to order after an 18–24 month waitlist.

Aston Martin’s First EV To Arrive in 2026

Toyota received criticism for its advertisements a few years ago that referred to their electrically assisted vehicles as self-charging hybrids. The news is that a German bus will soon be refueling on a wireless ev charging highway in the city of Balingen. It is the newest step in turning that fantasy into a reality.
Even while the project is limited to a single bus, it is not difficult to see how the technology can eventually be used in vehicles and other places all over the world.

Similar to how inductive charging on cell phones functions, so does automotive technology. Magnetic coils in the ground transmit electricity to a coil on the automobile through the air. Car static charge stations have been available for a while. The fact remains that charging highways are more complex and are still in the planning stages.
<h2>Wireless EV Charging System</h2>
For the Balingen project, Israeli firm Electreon and German firm EnBW have collaborated to install 0.6 mile/1 km of Electric Road System (ERS) along a section of German highway, as well as two static charging stations at spots where the bus usually stops along its route. The Electreon will build charging infrastructure, which will get up to $3.2 million in funding.

Germany To Test Wireless EV Charging On The Go

For the US market, Toyota has unveiled the brand-new fifth-generation Prius hybrid. Although Toyota will indeed sell the brand-new Prius as the Prime PHEV in Europe, it will be available in the US in both plug-in and non-plug-in models, with the latter now offering AWD for the first time.

Both models receive significantly improved specifications. Toyota combined a 2-liter four-cylinder fuel engine with an electric motor in the Prius Prime plug-in hybrid model to produce much more power than the previous model.
