MG Comet EV is a four-door cheap EV launched first in India. It&#8217;s the rebadged version of the Air EV, which is the latest model launched by China&#8217;s highly-popular budget EV maker Wuling. Both MG and Wuling are part of China&#8217;s one of the largest automotive conglomerates, SAIC Motor. 
Comet EV has a rear-wheel-drive 41-HP electric drivetrain. Mini EV features a 17.3-kWh battery pack that uses CALB&#8217;s prismatic LFP cells. When it&#8217;s fully charged, MG Comet can travel up to 230 kilometers, according to India&#8217;s MIDC test cycle. MG claims Comet EV drivers will spend less on electricity for a month than a pizza to drive around with their small electric vehicle.

Rising Auto, Chinese auto giant SAIC Motor&#8217;s premium EV sub-brand, launched its first electric sedan called F7. This brand mainly focuses on swappable battery technology, which makes it a direct rival to another Chinese EV maker NIO. F7, similiar to the brand&#8217;s previous model Rising Auto R7, can be bought with an optional swappable battery pack. The range will be reduced from 666 kilometers to 600 km, if the customer will go with the 544-HP performance version. 
F7&#8217;s base model costs around €31,000 and comes with a 77-kWh battery pack supplied by the SAIC-CATL joint venture called United Auto Battery System. This version can produce up to 340 horsepower. Its CLTC range generously estimated as 576-km. Rising Auto F7 Long Range is equipped with a larger 90-kWh pack with 666 kilometers of range on a single charge. 
Fully electric F7 comes with a whopping 43-inch display area. Its operating system is called RISING OS and the infotainment system is powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 8155 chipset.

70 kWh battery pack is standard across all trim levels. It takes 43 minutes to charge this battery from 5 percent to 80 percent. Maximum DC charging rate is around 90-100 kW. There is also an 11 kW on-board AC charger, enabling electric MG to be fully charged in around 7 hours.
MG MARVEL R is currently available in China, Netherlands, and a few other European countries. Pricing of the standard MARVEL R starts at €40,000, tri-motor all-wheel drive performance version costs €10,000 more.

MARVEL R designed on a vehicle platform that its sole intention is to create pure electric cars, unlike MG ZS EV. As a result, electric SUV provides a spacious interior and a more aerodynamically efficient exterior design. MG takes a more luxurious design direction with its newest vehicles and MARVEL R shows that change very well.
Front end of the vehicle resembles a very sleek look, sharp lines across the hood, C-shaped headlights and the front lightbar put there to guarantee young customers’ desire. Rear face looks a lot like the Turkish EV startup TOGG’s mid-range SUV. Chinese automaker did use a lightbar in the rear as well.
MARVEL R has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a huge 19.4-inch vertical infotainment touch display. You can handle most of the features via big screen, but angled design is not ideal for someone in a usual driving position. Other than that, MG did a pretty good job with MARVEL R’s interior.
18-inch rims, two zone climate control, and power tailgate come as standard, but 9-speaker BOSE sound system, wireless charging pad for mobile devices, and ventilated front seats are optional.

<h2>Overview</h2>
MG ZS EV is the mid-range fully electric SUV that comes from China where it produced by SAIC Motors. This is the first MG branded vehicle available in Europe for over a decade. MG ZS EV offers a 143 HP single electric motor, 44.5 kWh battery and 263 kilometers of range when fully charged. It is one of the most affordable electric cars in the continent, starting at 26,095 pounds.
This Chinese electric SUV is currently being sold in the UK, Germany, Netherland, Australia, Turkey and so on. Prices may vary depending on the country’s EV tax incentives.
<h2>Performance</h2>
ZS EV has one electric motor on the front, producing 143 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque. 0 to 100 km/h acceleration performance is around 8.2 seconds. The platform that ZS EV manufactured is not purely EV-intended, the vehicle operates very well with an electric drive unit and a heavy battery placed underneath the floor.
Top speed of the vehicle is 140 km/h, and it supports adaptive cruise control. There is no other engine option for this model year, but it might get much powerful versions in the near future.
<h2>Design and Features</h2>
ZS EV has a big MG logo on its front grille, a very wide grille that is not fully closed as it is very popular with other EVs. MG logo on the grille also hides the charging port for the vehicle.
Interior of the ZS EV looks very modern and neat, nothing out of the ordinary. Back seats are very roomy, floor is not too high compared to other electric SUVs. There is a small screen at the center of the gauge cluster and also a much bigger 8-inch infotainment touch screen.
Infotainment system in the ZS EV is not very smooth, but it does support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto unlike some other Chinese brand vehicles like Seres 3 and Hongqi E-HS3.
Heated front seats, two USB ports, optional panoramic sunroof are some other features that MG ZS EV has.
<h2>Range and Charging</h2>
MG ZS EV carries a 44.5 kWh battery pack, relatively small unit. But it can run 263 kilometers on a single charge. WLTP range is way lower at ~150 km and at this price range it is very acceptable. However, due to the lack of a heating system in the battery pack, cold weathers will affect the range very deeply.
The car supports DC fast charging at a rate of 100 kW, but real-world tests show that it can only go as high as 76 kW with public DC charging plugs. 0-80 percent of charge in 40 minutes and AC charging will top up the battery in 6.5 hours.

The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

The BYD Seal U Has Been Launched in China with a Price Starting at $18,040

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.

All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. 🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

Audi Q6 E-Tron | 255 KM Range with a 10-Minute Charge!

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.

🟢IM Motors, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and Alibaba Group announced that the electric fastback L6, which will be unveiled at a technology launch on April 8th, will come with a 130 kWh solid-state battery.
🔌The dual-motor performance model IM L6 will offer a range of over 1,000 kilometers and will also feature an 900V electrical architecture. This will enable it to achieve high DC charging speeds of over 400 kW.

🔋Using a nickel-heavy chemistry on the cathode and its own developed silicon composite material on the anode, the Chinese company has significantly increased energy density and minimized the risk of battery combustion or explosion with solid electrolytes. IM Motors has been able to develop a lighter, longer-range, faster-charging, and safer car.
💰Due to the use of new-generation materials, solid-state solutions are much more expensive than current batteries, which will likely affect the price of the IM L6. However, as costs decrease in the coming years, we can expect to see #solidstatebatteries being more frequently used, at least in the short term, in performance-oriented and/or luxury models.

🔋 The upcoming IM L6 will feature one of the world’s most efficient heat pump thermal management systems, previously used in the SUV-style LS6. Additionally, with a 900V electrical architecture and an inverter with silicon carbide chips, it is estimated to achieve a range of 1,000 km on a single charge.
💨 Another standout feature of the L6 will be its low drag coefficient . While the SUV model had a value of 0.237, it is expected to decrease to 0.20 Cd for the sedan version.

An Electric Sedan with a Range of 1,000 KM Debuts in Europe!

⚡IM Motors, owned by the Chinese SAIC Motor and #Alibaba partnership, announced that it will introduce the new version of the electric sedan L7 on February 24.
🔋The 5.1-meter sedan vehicle stands out with its design with a drag coefficient of 0.21 and 800V electrical architecture. The vehicle will come with the new IMOS 2.7.0 operating system developed by Alibaba. Thanks to the #NVIDIA Orin X chips and three LiDAR on its roof, it will offer autonomous driving features valid in many cities in China.

🟢IM L7 will have autonomous driving throughout China in 2024. Thanks to its updated interior cabin, it also promises a more comfortable journey for the driver and passengers in both the front and rear seats.
🔌 Other notable features of L7 include remote parking by phone, narrow road/parking lot exit assistant, one-touch exit from the parking lot, and rear seats that can be tilted up to 10 degrees.

Alibaba-backed Electric Sedan IM L7 with 675 km Range!

IM Motors, a direct competitor to Tesla, is a high-end electric vehicle brand founded in 2020 and unveiled its first vehicles in early 2021. Its name is an abbreviation of the &#8220;Intelligence in Motion&#8221;, which clearly indicated that IM Motors is a smart vehicle-focused automaker. 
A total of $1.4 billion (10 billion RMB) initial investment was made by IM Motors&#8217; shareholders as a founding capital. Chinese EV maker&#8217;s first vehicle concepts &#8216;AIRO&#8217; and LS7 are designed by English designer Thomas Heatherwick and showcased at Auto Shanghai in 2021. In 2022, IM Motors only sold around 5,000 EVs. It&#8217;s expected to sell more than 45,000 in 2023, thanks to the highly-popular electric SUV <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/im-ls7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IM Motors LS7</a>. A more affordable IM Motors LS5 is also on its way.
<h2>Who Owns IM Motors?</h2>
IM Motors is a joint venture between Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, the automaker SAIC Motor, and a Shanghai-based industrial and technology park called Zhangjiang High-Tech. SAIC Motor owns the majority (54%) of this joint venture. Alibaba and Zhangjiang High-Tech hold an 18 percent stake each. IM Motors&#8217;s main purpose is to design and manufacture fully electric high-end vehicles. The brand&#8217;s first cars are being produced at SAIC Motor&#8217;s Lingang plant in Shanghai, China, where SAIC made a handful of investments in 2021 to manufacture all-electric models.

IM Motors LS7 launched in December 2022 and received very positive feedbacks from Chinese customers. It&#8217;s been one of the most popular electric SUVs since the beggining of 2023. LS7 is also one of the first EVs that its battery can be bought seperately and paid in installments. Thanks to this purchasing option, its starting price is as low as $33,750 (239,800 CNY).
IM Motors LS7 comes with 90/100 kWh battery pack and 340/578-HP powertrain variants. It offers a CLTC range of up to 660 kilometers. All-wheel-drive LS7 can travel up to 625 km.

IM Motors L7 is first launched in April 2022 with its sleek-design and optional 11-kW wireless charging capability. It&#8217;s almost 5,1 meters long, wheelbase stretches to 3,100 millimeters. With a 0.21 drag coefficient, IM L7 is one of the most aerodynamic vehicles in the world.
L7 comes in three variants: L7 Elite, L7 Snake Performance Lite, and L7 Snake Performance. The RWD L7 Elite offers up to 675 kilometers of range and 340-HP, whereas Snake Performance model can produce as high as a whopping 605-horsepower and 730 Nm of torque.
<h3>When Will IM Motors Coming to United States?</h3>
IM Motors is meant to be a global high-end EV brand. SAIC Motors and Alibaba have been planning to sell electric vehicles in both United States and Europe. First deliveries should be made to European countries in the next couple of year. But US market entry is not a near-term goal for IM Motors. Don&#8217;t expect to see IM Motors vehicles in US soon.

12 Largest EV Battery Manufacturers in the World

Four Chinese conglomerates officially announced today that they partnered up to install thousands of battery swapping stations for electric vehicles. SAIC Motor took the lead on this joint venture called Jieneng Smart Power. It aims to install swapping stations all over China, provide battery leasing services, prioritize the need for a universal swappable battery pack design, and initiate big data operations by using the information gathered from both swapping and charging stations.

CATL, the world&#8217;s largest lithium-ion battery maker, plays a crutial part in this partnership. Sinopec and PetroChina are also shareholders of the new battery-swapping business. Lastly, SAIC Motor made a deal with China&#8217;s one of the largest automotive-focused industrial zones Anting Shanghai International Automobile City to become a partner.
The Chinese government has been supporting the battery swapping business by offering generous incentives for years. By 2025, there will be more than 28,000 swapping stations in China. To achieve that companies like SAIC have been investing billions of yuan to develop and commercialize their vehicles with swappable battery packs. CATL will help SAIC Motor by providing its next-gen battery packs and battery swapping technologies.

SAIC Motor is China&#8217;s second biggest EV maker. It has a strong brand portfolio which includes MG, Roewe, Maxus, Baojun, Wuling, Zhiji Motors, and Rising Auto. Chinese automaker will launch multiple vehicles with swappable batteries across different marques. The first swapping stations will be installed alongside Sinopec and PetroChina&#8217;s gas stations. These two petroleum giants have more than 50,000 stations actively serving Chinese drivers. From now on, there will be battery swapping and high-speed charging units alongside gas-filling stations.
SAIC Motor&#8217;s high-end electric SUV called <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/rising-auto-r7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rising Auto R7</a> is the first vehicle to benefit from this swapping business. Shanghai-based company will call its stations &#8216;Rising Power&#8217;. It will challenge NIO to create China&#8217;s largest battery swapping network. NIO currently has more than 1,200 swapping stations in the world.

SAIC Motor and CATL partner up to install battery swapping stations

A new Chinese-made fully-electric MG is coming to UK and Europe soon. The electric hatchback, codenamed Mulan, will be called MG4 EV in the west. Pricing has finally been revealed by the automaker. MG4 EV will cost £25,995 in the UK. European pricing will also be around €30,000.

MG4 EV is a beautifully designed hot-hatch built by Chinese automaker SAIC. The company has been teasing about another affordable European EV for a while. It made its first debut with a different name, Mulan, in China in June 2022. The western version&#8217;s unveiling followed soon after. According to MG UK&#8217;s official website, MG4 EV will have two trim levels and two different battery pack options; MG4 EV SE, MG4 EV SE Long Range, and MG4 EV Trophy.

The base model will cost £25,995 and offers up to 201 miles (351 km) of range with a 54-kWh battery. It has a single motor that can produce 170 HP and 250 Nm of torque. The long-range version of the MG4 EV SE with a 64-kWh battery pack can travel up to 452 kilometers when fully charged. The high-end model, called MG4 EV Trophy, offers more power at 204 HP, the same torque figure, and the same top speed of 160 km/h. 
All versions support 150 kW DC, and 7 kW AC charging speeds. MG claims that its newest EV can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 35 minutes. 10.25&#8243; infotainment display is standard on all three trim levels. MG4 EV does support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The high-end version will also feature wireless charging and 360-degrees parking camera system.
MG4 Electric has a bunch of ADAS features available for its drivers, such as active emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, LKA (Lane Keep Assist), TJA (Traffic Jam Assist), Driver Attention Alert, etc. MG4 EV Trophy model will be equipped with much more advanced ADAS hardware, offering Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
MG4 EV deliveries will start in Q4 2022. The automaker will accept orders starting this September. European pricing will be officially announced in the coming weeks.
