Chinese automaker equipped BYD U9 with a self-developed suspension called DiSus-X, which described as U9&#8217;s magic body control system. BYD Yangwang U8, previosly known as Yangwang R1, is a luxurious performance-oriented electric SUV. It is a direct competitor to Land Rover brand and Mercedes-Benz&#8217;s upcoming all-electric G-Wagon called EQG. Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

An ominous image presented on the social media accounts of Chinese carmaker BYD hinted that it would debut a new electric SUV at the forthcoming Shanghai Auto Show. The Dynasty series SUV, which is still nameless, will have an all-electric drivetrain. It is expected that the vehicle would compete in the expanding market for electric SUVs and might present a significant challenge to other well-established competitors in the sector.
The EV&#8217;s elegant coupe-SUV rear end is highlighted in the single photo. The full-width LED taillights, broad shoulders, and strongly slanted rear glass all hint that the Chinese carmaker at least partially took inspiration from the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Though it is true that this is not the first Chinese model to mimic the Cayenne, as far as it can be said, it could be the most accurate rendition yet.
In spite of this, the new BYD electric SUV has certain standout characteristics that differentiate it from the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Two vertical bars acting as the third brake light, a double rear spoiler protruding from the top, and mirror-replacing cameras are a few examples. The new SUV will be part of the BYD Dynasty series, which is named after, you guessed it, Chinese dynasties.
Sadly, BYD has not provided any information on the new model, which is referred to be a totally electric &#8220;B-Class SUV.&#8221; However, it is expected to use BYD&#8217;s e-platform 3.0, which is used by a number of Chinese automakers&#8217; zero-emission cars.
On April 18, the new EV will be formally presented, and the Chinese market will likely get it later in 2023. The quad electric motor-equipped <a href="https://www.licarco.com/byd-yangwang-u8">U8 off-roader</a> and <a href="https://www.licarco.com/byd-yangwang-u9">U9 supercar</a> from the new YangWang brand will also be displayed at BYD&#8217;s booth at the Shanghai Auto Show.

At a posh event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Stellantis welcomed several dealers and displayed its whole portfolio of contemporary ideas. They created a seven-year product strategy to prepare for a completely different future. The replacement of the Dodge Durango with a three-row Dodge Stealth SUV was one of the disclosures from the event that an attendee documented. Jeep already offers an electric car, at least in Europe, and it&#8217;s called the tiny <a href="https://www.licarco.com/jeep-avenger">Jeep Avenger</a>. Nevertheless, the front-wheel-drive Jeep Avenger, which isn&#8217;t sold in North America, isn&#8217;t the type of Jeep that could successfully traverse the Rubicon Trail. The new Recon checks all of those things while also having a boxy, rugged exterior.
The Wrangler is not planned to be replaced by the Recon. Nevertheless, it will be offered solely as an EV and positioned next to it in the lineup. It will be equipped with real off-road goods including e-locker axle technology, Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management, thick trail rubber, tow hooks, and underbody protection. It is based on the new Stellantis STLA Large EV platform.
In addition, the Uconnect media system will include navigation preloaded for some of the most well-traveled overland routes in the nation. The doors and roof may also be removed. Moreover, Jeep claims that the battery will have enough juice to get you across the Rubicon and back to a charging station, in case you&#8217;re wondering how you&#8217;d go about charging a Recon in the middle of nowhere. Recon EV reservations begin this year, and manufacturing begins the next year.

The Wagoneer S, another all-electric Jeep with a different target market in mind, has cars like the BMW iX in its sights. It shares the STLA Large base with the Recon and is similarly constructed, but its driving characteristics and aesthetics are tailored for city driving.
Although Jeep hasn&#8217;t provided exact information regarding the battery or charging periods, it did mention a driving range of 644 km/400 miles when it initially introduced the idea last September. That platform can support batteries up to 100 kWh. The idea also stated that it could reach 97 kmh /60 mph in under 3.5 seconds thanks to two electric motors that combined to provide 600 horsepower (608 PS) for its four wheels.
<h2>Dodge, Ram, And Chrysler Concepts</h2>

The RAM 1500 Revolution electric pickup (although not the production version introduced last month) and the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT were other highlights during the dealer event, as was already known. Yet the nearly extinct Chrysler brand also made an appearance to remind us that it would solely sell electric vehicles starting in 2028.
In 2022, the company unveiled the idea for the 400 horsepower (406 PS), dual-motor Airflow crossover as a competitor to the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y. Nevertheless, it was already too late and when Chrysler informed us that the actual thing wouldn&#8217;t be available until 2024 or 2025. Yet, despite its attractive appearance, the 563-644 km/350–400 mile range sounds reasonable until you realize that the battery pack is a massive 118 kWh.

Jeep Wagoneer EV And Recon Electric Off-Roader To Come

On Tuesday, Kia unveiled photos of the 2024 Kia EV9 three-row electric crossover SUV. The automaker has laid the groundwork for a new flagship that will be based on the idea that debuted two years ago at the 2021 Los Angeles Motor Show.
The tall, boxy crossover SUV updates the attractive design of the Kia Telluride. With a novel twist on the brand&#8217;s dogbone grille, the vertical ends defy aerodynamics. Daytime running lights strike the fender like a lightning bolt from the bumper.
The LED headlights are all new, consisting of two stacks of little cubes, similar to an ice tray of light. Out back, the stepped pattern is repeated with taillights that ascend up the tailgate to the integrated rear roof spoiler. Kia foregoes the light bars that brace the front and rear of many other EVs, particularly in the premium class.
Large wheels with a noticeably square form are housed in boxy wheel arches. It has a discordant yet appealing design, although Kia has not revealed wheel sizes, standard features, or any other details. The roof is worn like a cap by the squat greenhouse, and a kink at the quarter window cuts a sharp line up to the roof spoiler. It appears to be both sporty and truck-like, implying some off-road capability.
<h2>The EV9 Will Have A Range of Up To 482 Kilometers/300 Miles</h2>

For the time being, there are just a handful of three-row electric SUVs fetching premium pricing. The Tesla Model X was the first three-row electric vehicle to hit the market, and it recently received a $10,000 price decrease, lowering the starting price to $101,380 for five seats; an extra row costs $3,500 more. That&#8217;s a little less than the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, which starts at $105,000 and goes up to more than $130,000. The 2023 Rivian R1S starts at about $80,000 in price.
The 2024 Kia EV9&#8217;s technical specifications are due around the end of March. The price will be announced closer to the vehicle&#8217;s on-sale date later this year.

An electric version of Suzuki&#8217;s well-known Jimny compact off-roader is one of the five new electric cars the company recently announced to launch in Europe by 2030. The first of these Suzuki EVs will be on sale next year. Although it will still be a crossover, it is unlikely to be the Jimny EV. Instead, it may be a production version of the previously unveiled eVX concept.
So far, there is no information available about any of these EVs. The Jimny is anticipated to appear quite similar to the current model, and it&#8217;s extremely probable that it won&#8217;t simply be marketed with an electric powertrain. According to Suzuki&#8217;s latest announcement, which allows open for interpretation, a hybrid variation may also be in the sale.
According to previous reports, the eVX concept car may be the first totally electric Suzuki to go into production. The company, which refers to this vehicle as its first &#8220;global strategic EV,&#8221; claims it will debut in 2025. But that doesn&#8217;t mean it simply won&#8217;t happen the following year.

Additionally, it gives a sneak peek at what will presumably be the most cutting-edge and futuristic-looking Suzuki ever. Suzuki does not offer drivers a glimpse inside. Though the company did mention that it may have dual-motor all-wheel drive and a 60 kWh battery pack, giving it a range of up to 550 km/342 miles on the Indian MIDC test cycle and likely 500 km/310 miles on the WLTP.
It&#8217;s possible that the electric Jimny also uses this battery pack. If the off-roader is too tiny to fit the battery pack on its floor, Suzuki may switch to the recently introduced four-door Jimny model. Because Jimny&#8217;s wider wheelbase offers more space between the axles for a larger battery pack.

Mercedes-Benz EQG debuted last year at the Munich Mobility Show. According to Autocar, fully electric G Wagon will use a silicone-anode battery for boosting its range and performance. It will be the first Mercedes to feature a battery that uses a high-silicone anode. EQG will not only offer more range but also weigh much lighter and perform better.
Mercedes and Sila Nanotechnologies collaborated to develop high-silicone batteries in 2019. This year in May, two companies signed a supply agreement for future Mercedes EVs. The new battery cell with silicone anode can achieve a volumetric energy density of 800 Wh/l, according to Sila Nanotechnologies. German carmaker first used the new battery inside its astonishing EV concept called <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/mercedes-vision-eqxx/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vision EQXX</a>. This concept can offer more than 1,000 kilometers of range, thanks to a 100-kWh battery pack that weighs only 495 kilograms and occupies less space inside the vehicle&#8217;s body.
Lithium-ion battery cells mostly use natural/or synthetic graphite as the main material for the anode. China is the dominant supplier of both kinds of graphite. To decrease their dependency on China, western companies have been looking for an alternative. Silicone is the most viable option, as it can store significantly more lithium ions than graphite could. The first successful example of this anode will be used in the electric G Wagon. Sila Nanotechnologies and Mercedes will continue their partnership in other future Mercedes vehicles.

Fully electric EQG will not only feature an energy-dense battery but also an advanced powertrain. Electric G Wagon will have four electric motors, two on the front and the other two on the rear axle. These motors will carry their own gearboxes with fixed ratios. Mercedes is also going to include its most advanced software package that imitates the functionality of the gasoline-engined G Wagon&#8217;s three differential locks.
German carmaker is also looking for an opportunity to implement its newly-acquired British motor company YASA&#8217;s axial flux motors. These compact solutions can produce more torque and weigh less for boosting both range and performance, like the new battery. YASA supplied axial flux motors to Ferrari&#8217;s SF90 Stradale and Koenigsegg&#8217;s Regera. EQG could use the extra torque for an improved off-road experience. Unfortunately, G Wagon fans will have to wait for a couple of years to buy this fascinating piece of technology. Mercedes-Benz is planning to start building the first electric G-Class vehicle in 2025.

It is likely to have a somewhat higher off-road focus than just the Czech version, as well as virtually all other vehicles in the class. The teaser images of the Scout&#8216;s forthcoming pick-up truck and SUV are recently released. They both feature clean, boxy proportions, chunky off-road tires, and a raised ground clearance. Both vehicles don’t have a traditional powertrain and it enabled very short overhangs, except for the pick-up which has an extended load bay.
For the Scout, Volkswagen will not use the MEB electric architecture which establishes the company’s electric ID range. Alternatively, they will use a new technical platform concept for the offroad EVs of its new brand.
The new lineup of the Scout will be designed entirely for US customers and the price tag will possibly be around $40,000 which is lower than its rivals like Ford F150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado. The German manufacturer claims that the prototypes will be released next year, and the first Scouts will be ready in 2026.

The Scout was first introduced in 1961 by International Harvester as a small, two-door SUV which was produced to be a rival to Jeep. The Scout and second-generation Scout II were produced in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as two-door trucks with a removable hardtop. Production stopped in 1980, and VW acquired the rights to the brand when it bought Navistar International in 2020. (Navistar was created in 1985 when International Harvester went out of business.
Volkswagen is set to invest $1 billion into the new Scout brand. The investments will probably include building a new manufacturing plant and hiring a whole new pile of US-based executives. The company may also seek outside financing for the project, with the possibility of listing the subsidiary on the public markets once it’s up and running.
Nevertheless, the German manufacturer will have to deal with the global supply chain problem, battery material shortages, and high inflation in the coming years. Herbert Diess, the CEO, recently stated that the company has already been sold out on all EVs both in Europe and the US for the year. It means that people hoping to buy an EV from the VW group may have to wait till 2023 because the company is still trying to solve the chip shortage and production issues due to COVID restrictions in China.

Chevrolet officially announced three Silverado trims would indeed be available immediately: the core Work Truck (WT), the off-road-oriented Trail Boss, and the loaded RST. The very first Work Trucks will be available in early summer 2023, whereas those RST reservations will have to wait until fall 2023.

When such Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode is able to engage, the top-spec RST Silverado EV will have all-wheel drive and two electric motors capable of producing an impressive 660hp and 780lb-ft of torque. Thus according to Chevy, the WOW mode will propel the RST from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds, making it faster than the most powerful F-150 Lightning.

Chevrolet claims that the Silverado EV design will take advantage of the increasing number of official DC fast-charging stations that charge at speed of up to 350kW to add a 100-mile range in 10 minutes. Other charging options are including 240-volt Level 2 public and home charging stations, as well as 120-volt Level 1 outlet commonly found in homes.

Chevrolet confirmed that the Silverado EV Work Truck will originally be capable of towing up to 8,000 pounds, while a fully armed RST will be capable of towing up to 10,000 pounds. Moreover, once the first edition models hit the road, a Work Truck with 20,000lbs of towing capacity will be introduced.

Porsche has bought a minority share from a German company called Fazua, which has developed one of the most innovative electric drive systems.
Founded in 2013, Fazua is a pioneer in the development of compact and lightweight technologies which are used by more than 40 brands. The mid-drive motors of Fazua’s e-bikes can be removed, along with the battery pack. The removability of those parts helps the riders to get rid of all the extra weight of e-bikes when carrying them.
The deal between Porsche and Fazua includes an initial %20 ownership of the company by Porsche for an undisclosed amount and an option for Porsche to buy more shares to become the majority owner of Fazua.
Porsche has also announced that it will establish a strategic partnership with Ponooc, an investment company that works in sustainable energy and mobility solutions. Two companies will establish two joint ventures in the field of electric mobility.
One of these ventures is to develop, manufacture, and distribute the next generation of Porsche’s e-bikes. Technological solutions in the micro-mobility market will be the focus of the other venture of Porsche and Ponooc.
