<a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/cars?filter=honda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Honda</a> lacks behind its competitors when it comes to the electrification of its vehicles. The only pure electric model Japanese firm offers as of today is the supermini <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/honda-e" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Honda e</a>. This is very problematic for the Japanese automaker, because of the carbon emission regulations that keep getting severe in Europe and China. But they have a quick solution to this: Honda e:NS1, the electrified version of the latest Honda H-RV. 
Honda e:NS1 is a conversion project managed by Dongfeng Honda, Japanese firm&#8217;s joint-venture in China. Instead of developing an EV-dedicated vehicle platform and building an efficient electric car, Honda simply swapped the petrol engine for a smaller, lighter electric motor, and attached a battery pack (supplied by CATL) underneath the existing chassis of the 2022 Honda H-RV. This is probably the most sloppy electric conversion job we have ever encountered. But it works like a charm for the Japanese carmaker.

e:NS1 is based on Honda&#8217;s e:N OS operating system that powers the large 15.1-inch vertically-oriented infotainment display inside the car. Rear-view mirror and gauge cluster are also LCD displays, to enable a much smoother riding experience. Compact EV offers some app control features as well, such as mobile key app, virtual key share, Find My Car, etc. 
There is a face-recognition system inside the cockpit of the Honda e:NS1, increasing the overall security of the vehicle. 
Honda&#8217;s first electric SUV is capable of offering V2L, which is very practical when it comes to powering house appliances and mobile devices. V2L feature is optional though. There is also a pre-conditioning feature for the battery that speed-up the charging process beforehand.

The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

The BYD Seal U Has Been Launched in China with a Price Starting at $18,040

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

The 2024 BYD Han Has Officially Been Released | Starting At $25,000

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

🔋Developed on General Motors&#8217; Ultium platform, Prologue promises a range of 476 km according to the realistic US standard (EPA) with an 85 kWh battery.
📐The 4.8-meter electric SUV reaches 215 horsepower in a single engine. Honda Prologue will be in showrooms in March 2024, and deliveries will start thereafter. The price is $47,000 for the single engine. It will reach $50,400 for the dual-engine model. Dual-engine model reaches 452 km range and 293 horsepower.

All-Electric Honda Prologue’s Price List Announced!

🟢#Honda is preparing to officially launch the all-electric SUV e:NS2. The vehicle was introduced as a prototype in China last year.

🔋 e:NS2 will be one of the largest SUVs in its segment with its 68.8 kWh battery, 150 kW engine, and 4,788 mm long body. It was the first vehicle developed by the Japanese manufacturer on the e:N Architecture F platform with its Chinese partner Dongfeng.
💰The electric Honda&#8217;s price and release date are not yet known. It will probably go on sale in Europe under the name e:Ny2. Since they originate from China, neither e:Ny1 nor e:NS2 is expected to be imported to Turkey due to authorized service regulations.

First Footage of Honda’s New Electric SUV

Honda has lagged behind its Japanese counterparts in the auto sector when it concerns all-electric cars. The carmaker overemphasized hybrids and hydrogen fuel cells, which left North America with almost no all-electric vehicles to choose from.
Honda hasn&#8217;t produced an all-electric vehicle in the US since Clarity Electric&#8217;s manufacturing was halted in 2019. Honda has been touting the Prologue, an EV it co-developed with GM, for years.
The Prologue, well-posed above the CR-V and next to the Passport. It offers plenty of passenger and luggage capacity, will, according to Honda, complement its array of light trucks.
The redesigned 2023 Honda CR-V is around 8 inches/203 mm longer and 5 inches/127 mm wider than the electric SUV, which has a wheelbase of 121.8 inches/3,093 mm, the same as the Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Blazer EV.
<h2>Dazzling Appearance: &#8220;Neo-Rugged&#8221;</h2>
The Honda speaks frequently about its appearance, which it calls &#8220;Neo-Rugged&#8221; with a clear and uncomplicated surface.
Highlights include the huge 21-inch wheels, the panoramic roof, the sleek horizontal taillights joined by a trim piece incorporating Honda branding in a stylized style, and the front fascia which draws inspiration from the unique design of the Honda e-urban EV.
The Honda Prologue will have a competent and stable exterior attributable to all of these.

<h2>2 Million EVs Globally by the Year 2030</h2>
Honda has not yet discussed engine options. But it has been confirmed that all-wheel drive will be an option for the Prologue. Expect it to use one of the dual-motor configurations used on the Chevrolet Blazer EV, albeit maybe not the SS&#8217;s 557-hp engine, which has the longest range. Similar to the Blazer EV, the entry-level option should be a single-motor FWD powertrain with 250 miles/402 kilometers range.
The Japanese manufacturer estimates selling 2 million units of 30 new EVs globally by the year 2030. The Prologue will mark the start of the growth in North America in 2024, and models built on Honda&#8217;s own e:Architecture will follow in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

Honda Introduces the First Electric SUV Prologue in 2024

BYD announced that it will officially enter Japan&#8217;s passenger electric vehicle market with its three models: Atto 3, Dolphin, and Seal.
BYD is familiar with the Japanese market since the Chinese company is already selling rechargeable batteries, solar energy products, all-electric buses, and all-electric forklifts. It will be a new player in the passenger electric car market.
BYD’s Atto 3, known as <a href="https://licarco.com/2022-byd-yuan-plus">Yuan Plus</a> in China, is a compact electric SUV built on BYD&#8217;s e-platform 3.0. Currently, it has two battery options: 49-kWh and the longer range 60.48-kWh one. Atto 3 is expected to be on sale in Japan in January 2023.
The second model to be sold in Japan is the <a href="https://licarco.com/byd-dolphin-405km-freedom-edition">BYD Dolphin.</a> It is an all-electric subcompact hatchback produced since 2021.  It is planned to be on the Japanese market towards the middle of 2023.
The third model will be <a href="https://licarco.com/byd-seal">BYD Seal</a>, a fully electric sedan built on BYD&#8217;s latest vehicle platform. The compact electric sedan has two engines that produce 530 horsepower and 670 Nm of torque and can travel around 650 kilometers when fully charged, according to the CLTC test cycle. BYD Seal will enter mass production later in 2022 and will be available in Japan in the second half of 2023.

BYD claims that these three electric passenger cars will bring more choices for the Japanese people and will help the EV market in Japan to grow. This BYD move will be a challenge for local EV manufacturers like Toyota, Nissan, and Honda.
Wang Chuanfu, the Chairman and the President of BYD states that the company, as one of the first companies to develop EVs in the world, has total 27-year-long expertise and experience in the industry and has mastered the advanced technologies spanning batteries, electric motors, electronic control systems, and automotive-grade chips.
He also said “Today, with the support and expectation of consumers, BYD officially hits the new energy passenger vehicle market in Japan. Through the joint efforts of BYD and the local NEV market, we are dedicated to leading the way in e-mobility for a better life.”
Today, the Chinese manufacturer officially sells its products in 70 countries on 6 continents; however, its electric car sales are made largely in China. BYD aims to increase its EV sales in other countries.

BYD goes into the Japanese electric vehicle market with its 3 cars

The car manufacturer Honda and the electronics brand Sony will invest 10 billion yen ($74,083,950) in creating a new joint venture called Sony Honda Mobility Inc. Two Japanese companies have officially signed a deal to initiate a new partnership that will develop and sell electric vehicles in the next years.
The new company will be established in 2022 and will engage in the mutual development and sales of electric cars. The new vehicles by Sony Honda Mobility Inc. will be made marketable with the mobility services.

During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas at the beginning of 2022, Sony has shown its Vision S 02 concept and declared that it aims to be an EV brand. The Vision S 02 concept is a seven-seat, 4.95-meter-long prototype SUV powered by an electric motor for a total of 563 hp with a 0-62 mph time of fewer than five seconds.
The images of the Vision S 02 have shown a similar interior design to the original Vision-S concept, with a full-width high-definition display instead of a conventional fascia, and headrest screens for second-row passengers. There’s also a rotary dial in the middle of the third row that will potentially allow those in the sixth and seventh seats to control audio or multimedia functions.

<h2>Honda produces EVs, Sony provides digital mobility</h2>
According to the confirmation of the new partnership, Honda with its expertise in production will plan, design, develop and sell new cars and Sony will provide digital services for a future mobility platform.
After the declaration of the new joint venture called Sony Honda Mobility Inc., Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President, Representative Executive Officer, and CEO of Honda Motor Co. said, “We are very pleased to have signed a joint venture agreement with Sony, which has strengths in advanced digital technology, and shares our desire to take on new challenges.”
Kenichiro Yoshida, CEO of Sony added, “We are excited to have met a partner, Honda, with extensive global achievements and knowledge, and to sign the joint venture agreement between the two companies. Going forward, we aim to contribute to the evolution of mobility by combining Honda’s cutting-edge environmental and safety technologies, mobility development capabilities, vehicle body manufacturing technology, and after-sales service management experience, with our expertise in imaging, sensing, telecommunication, network, and entertainment technologies.”
