Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the Korean carmaker’s first ever fully dedicated battery electric car. It is built on a unique platform, e-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) developed by Hyundai and Kia together.
Compared to <a href="https://www.licarco.com/2021-tesla-model-3-performance/">Tesla Model 3</a> and <a href="https://www.licarco.com/polestar-2-long-range-dual-motor/">Polestar 2</a>, Ioniq 5 looks like a boxy hatchback, Hyundai calls it a crossover. Fastest Ioniq 5 can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. It has a moveable center console on the inside, safety features like blindspot indicator, lane keeping, and remote parking capabilities.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Performance</h2>
Ioniq 5 has two battery pack options, Standard Range version offers 58 kWh capacity, whereas Long Range models will be equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery. Hyundai also offers two drivetrains for both of these battery options. RWD has a single electric motor and up to 217 horsepower. Those who wants to get more power will choose the AWD option for dual motors and up to 306 HP. It can tow a caravan up to 1,600 kilos of weight.
The stalk behind the steering wheel allows driver to easily change gear, put the vehicle on parking mode etc. Ioniq 5’s smooth driving experience will improve with very clever blindspot indicator feature. Whenever you put an indicator on, cameras from the each side of the vehicle will show you the blindspots, making Ioniq 5 much more safer to drive. There’s also a head-up display (HUD) that includes the vehicle’s speed, navigation etc.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Design and Features</h2>
In terms of appearance, Hyundai Ioniq 5 looks like a hatchback, but it’s actually a crossover, or an all-electric CUV. When Hyundai designed the new Ioniq 5, they took a lot of inspiration from the first vehicle they actually manufactured. It is the Hyundai Pony from the 1980s. It has got a very interest retro design, standing out from the crowd with its boxy shape. The headlights and taillights which use square shaped LEDs are also retro styled.
In profile, Ioniq 5 has an enormous wheelbase of over three meters, longer than a Range Rover Sport, which give this electric Hyundai plenty of space inside.
On the front of the vehicle, there is a little frunk, enough for a few grocery bags or a backpack, not even close to the capacity Teslas and <a href="https://www.licarco.com/ford-mustang-mach-e-gt/">Ford Mustang Mach-E</a> offer.
The interior of the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is as unique as its exterior design. Modular design allows Hyundai to equip its new vehicle with two 12 inch displays, one for the full-touch infotainment system, and the other acting as a digital gauge cluster. Thanks to its long wheelbase and flat floor, Ioniq 5’s center console can slide back almost 15 centimeters, creating a spacious car experience for the driver and passengers.
The Ioniq 5 got five USB ports, a 220V outlet for any tools and gadgets you want to power, a glove draw instead of a traditional glovebox, seats that can be almost fully recline, Bose sound system etc.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Range and Charging</h2>
Ioniq 5 has the fastest charging technology in its segment. There are two charging systems, 400 volt and 800 volt electrical arcitectures available for the Ioniq 5. With the highest setup, all-electric CUV can be charged with 350 kW DC plugs, from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 18 minutes.
There is also the V2L (Vehicle to Load) feature that turn Ioniq 5 into a power source for your electronic devices, and simple tools that can be powered via a simple outlet. It allows a charging speed up to 3.6 kW. It is even possible to charge another electric vehicle with Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Mini Electric is British carmaker’s first all-electric vehicle launched in 2020. It is a conventional Mini Hatch that swapped the engine for an electric motor and a set of battery cells. Exterior and interior of the vehicle stay almost the same, but there are some yellow lines and badges that give away its electric nature.

In the middle of the dashboard, you get a circular area where the 8.8-inch infotainment display located. Sat-nav is standard, because you will always need a system that tells you where the nearest charging station is. It’s not as smooth or as functional as the systems you find in Tesla Model 3 or Honda e, but it has a digital gauge cluster which is 5-inches in diameters and offers a few useful features. Both infotainment and gauge cluster displays are standard as of 2021/2022 model year.
If you switch to ‘Green+’ mode, the car changes its power delivery, and also turns off heating and heated seats. You need to choose between speed, comfort, and maximum range according to your priority.

Mercedes EQS is a luxury electric sedan, direct competitor to the Tesla Model S Plaid. It is the first electric Mercedes that designed on a purely EV intended vehicle platform. German carmaker uses its new design language called ‘bow design’. Its drag coefficient is only 0.20, it is one of the most aerodynamical vehicle in the world.
EQS can produce up to 761 horsepower and a mind-boggling 1,020 Nm torque. AMG version of the luxury electric sedan can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. AMG EQS 53 and the EQS 580 4MATIC variants are capable of all-wheel drive. All Mercedes EQS models come with a huge 108-kWh battery pack, offer up to 770 kilometers of range. It takes only 31 minutes to charge EQS from 10% to 80%, thanks to 200 kW DC charging support.
Mercedes has been producing the new luxury sedan EQS at Factory 56 in Sindelfingen, Germany. EQS is already available in some European countries, pricing starts at around €120,000 and goes all the way up to €200,000.
<h2>AMG EQS Performance</h2>
Mercedes AMG EQS 53, top of the line version, can produce 761 HP and 1,020 Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 250 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h only takes 3.4 seconds. Dual motor all-wheel drive AMQ EQS is not as fast as Lucid Air or Tesla Model S though, but it is still one of the fastest AMG vehicles on the market.
EQS 580 4MATIC comes with two electric motors and an AWD drive system, as well. It has 523 HP, 855 Nm torque, and 210 km/h top speed. It can complete a run from 0 to 100 km per hour in 4.3 seconds. Rear-wheel drive version of the luxury electric sedan, the EQS 450 has only 333 HP and 568 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h performance is around six seconds.
Rear-wheel steering is an option with the luxury electric sedan. It improves the high-speed stability, very helpful with the tight turns as well. When you’re going slowly, EQS will move its rear wheels the opposite direction and enable a narrower turning cycle which is very useful when driving around the city.
<h2>AMG EQS Design and Features</h2>
Mercedes EQS does not look as fancy as the concept it is based on which is called Vision EQS. But it is indeed a head turner, beautifully designed long body looks really sleek, and the frameless windows are very impressive. Front grille is fully closed as usual, and the headlights carry the distinctive look of every other EQ-series electric vehicle has.
There are dozens of little Mercedes logos all throughout the front of the vehicle. Trunk cannot be opened, because of the aerodynamical reasons. For what it’s worth, Mercedes EQS is one of the most aero-efficient vehicles on earth right now.
Interior of the EQS is dominated by the huge cluster of displays, or the ‘MBUX Hyperscreen’ as Mercedes calls it. It consists of three separate displays sitting beneath the extremely durable Corning Gorilla Glass.
Door handles pop up, like the latest Mercedes S-Class. All four doors open and close automatically as well, adding quite a bit of luxury. You can also control all doors electronically via central screen.
Head-up display has a very unique feature called “Augmented Reality Navigation”. Huge HUD can basically trick you to believe that it projects navigation instructions directly onto the road ahead. This AR sat-nav technology is only available as a camera feed feature in other Mercedes EQ models.
<h2>AMG EQS Range and Charging</h2>
All three versions of the EQS will have a whopping battery capacity of 108 kWh. AMG EQS offers 580 km range, according to WLTP test cycle. EQS 450 has a range of 770 km, longest range among three variants. AWD EQS 580’s range is around 680 kilometers.
Mercedes EQS supports 200 kW DC charging, from 10% charge to 80% in 31 minutes. It has a built-in 22 kW AC charger, fully charging the EQS only takes 5 hours.

Chinese electric vehicle brands are a top priority at Licarco because the EV market has become increasingly dominated by pure electric Chinese cars. Last year, China sold more EVs than the rest of the world. BYD, NIO, ORA, and Geely are some of the biggest Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers.
Even though China has been producing millions of EVs for years, American drivers wouldn&#8217;t be able to buy one. It&#8217;s because vehicles made in China are subjected to a %27.5 import tariff in the US. Due to heavy taxation, Chinese brands had not prioritized the US auto market in their global plans. But that&#8217;s changing quickly, as more and more Chinese EV marques are expanding their reach towards western markets, including United States.

Leapmotor, an emerging EV brand backed by Dahua Technology, has plans to enter the European market in 2023. The brand officials confirmed that Leapmotor would open showrooms in Europe. To finance its globalization plans, Hangzhou-based carmaker filed its first IPO that worths around $1.5bn at Hong Kong Exchange.
The brand has already started to sell electric vehicles in Turkey and Israel, starting with the compact hatchback called <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/leapmotor-t03" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leapmotor T03</a>. The first EV to be showcased in Europe will probably be the electric sedan C01. With its sleek design, cell-to-chassis technology, and impressive performance figures, <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/leapmotor-c01" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leapmotor C01</a> will attract a lot of customers.

BYD first entered Norway with the full-size electric SUV called <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/2022-byd-tang-ev" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tang EV</a>. Over the next months, China&#8217;s biggest EV manufacturer will start selling vehicles all over the world. BYD EVs are already available in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. European countries where BYD will start operations before the end of 2022 are the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, and Sweden.
BYD will export these three electric vehicle models to Old Continent; compact electric SUV <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/byd-atto-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BYD Atto 3</a>, electric sedan <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/2022-byd-han-ev" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BYD Han EV</a>, and BYD Tang EV. India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam will also be subject to BYD&#8217;s global expansion, as official statements confirmed.
Unfortunately, BYD has no plans to enter the American market yet. But there is a possibility of Chinese EV maker using its new premium brand, which reportedly will deliver a $145K+ luxury EV to the market, to attract customers from United States.

NIO is one of the first Chinese automakers, which officially confirms its entry into the US market. NIO-branded EVs will be on sale in the US starting in 2025. Large-size SUV ES8 is currently being tested on US roads. There is no official timeline for the US launch, though.
Chinese EV marque will also start selling EVs in Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. The next move on the global plans is to enter more European markets such as Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, and the Czech Republic. NIO is hoping to sell electric vehicles in 25 countries by 2025.

In February 2022, Xpeng opened its first showroom in Stockholm, Sweden. Guangzhou-based company will start selling EVs in Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden before the year ends. The company&#8217;s first offering will be the mid-range electric sedan <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/xpeng-p5-600p" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Xpeng P5</a>.
Xpeng expects half of its electric vehicle sales in 2025 to come from outside of China. Europe is its first choice but customers from the US will eventually get a taste of Xpeng&#8217;s popular cars in the near future. Chinese brand signed a dealership agreement with a Turkish company to sell EVs in Turkey as well. The first vehicle to be put on sale in Turkey will be <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/xpeng-p7-4wd-high-performance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Xpeng P7</a>.

Geely is a global automotive group. There are brands under the Geely Group that sell vehicles all over the world. Zeekr will be joining those brands next year by entering the European market. EV-only brand will make it official in early 2023, as Zeekr announced.
Zeekr has only one model on sale called Zeekr 001, but it has plans to launch a total of seven EVs by 2025. Its 2025 sales goal in Europe is 100,000 vehicles. There is no word whether Zeekr will sell EVs in Scandinavia, western/or eastern Europe. Follow us for more details.

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has officially entered the United Kingdom and Germany with its EV-only brand ORA. GWM introduced the first vehicles to be put on sale in Europe earlier this year. <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/ora-cat-64-kwh" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ORA Cat/Funky Cat</a> is the first one for the western market.
The company appoints Emil Frey to distribute vehicles starting in Germany. That is not the first time GWM to choose Germany for its global expansion. Chinese automaker&#8217;s battery division SVOLT opened a battery plant in Germany as well. Recently SVOLT announced its second investment worth €2.0bn, which would enable them to produce lithium-ion battery cells directly in the country.

Leapmotor T03 is a small-size electric hatchback first hit the market in May 2020. It is the second EV that Dahua-backed EV start-up built and launched. T03 comes with a 41-kWh battery pack, which is enough to give this small EV a range of 403 kilometers, according to <a href="https://www.licarco.com/news/ev-range-tests-explained-comparison-between-epa-ratings-wltp-nedc-and-cltc">CLTC test cycle</a>.
Chinese company recently announced that Leapmotor T03 has passed the European Union&#8217;s Whole Vehicle Type Approval and it is ready to be sold in EU. Leapmotor also officially confirmed its entry into the Israeli market with the very same model. First batch of T03 are on their way to Israel. The official pricing of the electric hatchback will be announced by Leapmotor&#8217;s partner in Israel called Metro Motor.

Dongfeng Motor has partnered up with Huawei to globalize its SERES-branded electric vehicles. Israel is one of the first places they went to sell EVs. If you want to play games with an Xbox controller on your Tesla, use a data cable (not a charge-only USB cable that lacks the data transfer function) to plug your controller into your Tesla Model 3/Y&#8217;s main screen via the USB-C ports in the center console or the USB-A port in the glove box. If you prefer a wireless connection, or your controller cannot be connected to your Tesla via cable, just follow our guide down below.

Regenerative braking technology is a bliss for the efficiency of <a href="https://www.licarco.com/cars">all-electric vehicles</a>. But it takes time to get used to this helpful feature. Sometimes it gets annoying or makes no sense on some occasions. If you want to turn off regenerative braking on your Tesla, you probably won&#8217;t find any disabling option in the menu. Because turning off regenerative braking is not possible on a Tesla. It is also impossible to adjust the regen on Tesla vehicles built since Q2 2020. Tesla Model S/3/X/Y vehicles built before that date can still be able to offer adjustments. You just need to navigate through the main screen and go to Driving, then change the &#8216;Regenerative Braking&#8217; to &#8216;Low&#8217; for reducing the level of regenerative braking.
Newer Tesla vehicles come with standard level regen as default. There is no &#8216;Regenerative Braking&#8217; adjustment option anymore. So, why wouldn&#8217;t Tesla allow its drivers to adjust regenerative braking? The main reason is that the vehicle range is heavily affected by not being able to recuperate the energy you otherwise lost to heat, etc by pressing the brake pedal. Other automakers agree with Tesla as well. According to <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://electrek.co/2018/08/08/audi-e-tron-quattro-electric-suv-range-regen-braking/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Audi</a>, regenerative braking can extend the range by up to 30% on average. Soon, every new electric vehicle on the market will probably remove the option to adjust regenerative braking for the sake of efficiency.

If you drive a Tesla vehicle built before Q2 2022, your car&#8217;s main screen comes with an option to adjust regenerative braking. You just need to go to settings, then select the &#8216;Driving&#8217; menu from the left and change the &#8216;Regenerative Braking&#8217; option to &#8216;Low&#8217; for partially turning off the regen.
You won&#8217;t be able to turn off this feature. There is, however, a way to heavily limit the effects of regen braking. Here&#8217;s how:

If you live in a cold area or your battery is fully charged, your Tesla vehicle would warn you about the regenerative braking is being limited. That&#8217;s because the battery is unable to receive the energy from the regen system and the battery&#8217;s management system temporarily turns off the regenerative braking feature. It might take up to half an hour for your vehicle to recover from that. In order to reduce the negative effects of this limitation, you can enable an extra feature for automatically applying the brake pedals instead of regen braking. Just go to Controls &gt; Pedals &amp; Steering, then turn on the &#8216;Apply Brakes When Regenerative Braking is Limited&#8217; option.

Not being able to turn off regenerative braking might sound dangerous on icy/snowy roads, but Tesla has a solution for this. In 2022, Tesla adjusted the traction control software of its vehicles and added a hidden snow mode. Its main function is to better handle regen braking adjustments on icy roads and snow. The world&#8217;s fastest-charging mass production vehicle <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/xpeng-g9-awd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Xpeng G9</a> is officially on sale today. It is also the first Chinese EV that features an 800V SiC (silicon carbide) inverter. Thanks to a highly efficient inverter, G9 will not only perform better but also charge faster than any EV out there. It can travel up to 124 miles (200 kilometers) with a 5-minute charge.

AWD Performance version of the G9 comes with two electric motors that can produce 551 HP and 717 Nm of torque. It also carries a 98-kWh battery pack, which gives G9 a <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/news/ev-range-tests-explained-comparison-between-epa-ratings-wltp-nedc-and-cltc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CLTC</a> range of 404 miles (650 km). Xpeng G9 is not only fast at a charging pole. It is also fast on roads, 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds. Chinese company claims that G9 has the best driver-assist tech suite available to an EV. The large-size SUV is equipped with 5 LiDAR sensors, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 14 camera modules. Its self-driving unit is powered by NVIDIA&#8217;s two DRIVE Orin chips. XPILOT 4.0 is standard, but to obtain the semi-autonomous city driving feature called XNGP, customers will have to pay 28,000 yuan (~$4,000) more.
He Xiaopeng, the founder of the Xpeng, unveiled another of their products called Xpeng S4. It is the next generation DC charging station developed by the company that can reach a top charging speed of 480 kW. By the end of next year, Xpeng will install S4 ultra-fast chargers in 500 locations in China. When a G9 driver plugged his/her vehicle into an S4 charger, it will only take 15 minutes to get from 0 to 80 percent charge.

RWD G9 with a small battery costs 309,900 CNY/or $43,963 in China. The high-end version called Xpeng G9 AWD is priced at around $56,730, which is less than any electric SUV in G9&#8217;s segment.
Xpeng confirms that G9 is based on its new X-EEA 3.0 vehicle platform, which makes it an EU-ready vehicle. Chinese firm will most likely apply for an EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval for G9 in the coming months. G9 deliveries will begin this October in China. The European expansion would start as early as the first half of next year.

Xpeng G9: The World’s Fastest-Charging Mass Production EV Unveiled

Electrify America will bring the fast-charging EV network to over 25 IKEA stores in 18 different states of the US. The number of fast chargers will be over 220 and have a capacity of up to 350kW. Electrify America is planning to install the first chargers by the end of the year and the remaining ones by the end of the next year.
Ikea USA CEO Javier Quiñones said that their collaboration with Electrify America will bring ultra-fast public chargers to their stores for the first time and will help them become circular and climate positive. Ikea plans to become fully electrified in its deliveries by 2025.
In the light of the electrification of its deliveries, Ikea is also partnering with Electrify America’s commercial division to plant another 225 individual charging at its several business sites. By doing so, Ikea wants to encourage its customers and employees to own electric vehicles. Previously, Blink Level 2 charging stations were installed at multiple IKEA stores as early as 2011.

The partnership is the latest one between a charging station network and a brick-and-mortar business. General Motors has formed a partnership with Pilot Company. The extended charging services for companies offered by EVgo will fuel the newest charging infrastructure in order to establish a coast-to-coast DC fast charging network founder with the &#8220;Pilot Flying J&#8221; and &#8220;Ultium 360&#8221; brands.

<h2>The Charging Infrastructure For GM And Pilot Will Be Handled By EVgo</h2>
In a current statement, GM provided information about its plans to create a statewide charging infrastructure. It also described that both the Pilot Company and EVgo would cooperate. In order to construct the DC rapid-charging system, General Motors and the Pilot Company will operate together. This system will primarily include 2,000 stations at 500 Pilot and Flying J ride locations close to the main highways.
Each charging station in the infrastructure will be branded with GM&#8217;s &#8220;Ultium Charge 360&#8221; and &#8220;Pilot Flying J&#8221;  logos and will have a 350 kW charging capacity. Installing, running, networking, and maintaining chargers will be made easier by EVgo.
At each of the 500 Pilot and Flying J stations in the US, the GM-branded DC rapid-charging kiosk network will be available. All EVs with rapid charging capabilities will be able to use the chargers. But according to GM, some of its consumers will benefit more than others:
-Exclusive bookings. 
-Freight price reductions. 
-Features for Plugging in &amp; Charging. 
-Utilizing GM vehicle brand apps and real-time charger accessibility.
GM withheld any financial information regarding its partnership with the Pilot Company or EVgo to put the new charging network into place. The system will only be available in the United States. But according to GM, a network expansion specifically for Canada seems to be in the pipeline.

According to the manufacturing company, the Ford E-Transit Custom van (there will also be a passenger version) is developed from the ground up to bring a no-compromise all-electric design to offer a destination WLTP range of up to 236 miles/380 km, the full towing capability of up to 2,000 kg, DC fast charging, and Pro-Power Onboard feature to provide exportable power for tools, lights, and devices while on site. Chevrolet officially announced three Silverado trims would indeed be available immediately: the core Work Truck (WT), the off-road-oriented Trail Boss, and the loaded RST. The very first Work Trucks will be available in early summer 2023, whereas those RST reservations will have to wait until fall 2023.
<h3>4. The Silverado EV Powered by Two Electric Motors</h3>

When such Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode is able to engage, the top-spec RST Silverado EV will have all-wheel drive and two electric motors capable of producing an impressive 660hp and 780lb-ft of torque. Thus according to Chevy, the WOW mode will propel the RST from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds, making it faster than the most powerful F-150 Lightning.

Chevrolet claims that the Silverado EV design will take advantage of the increasing number of official DC fast-charging stations that charge at speed of up to 350kW to add a 100-mile range in 10 minutes. Other charging options are including 240-volt Level 2 public and home charging stations, as well as 120-volt Level 1 outlet commonly found in homes.
<h3>2. The Silverado EV Has Adequate Payload and Towing Capacities</h3>

Chevrolet confirmed that the Silverado EV Work Truck will originally be capable of towing up to 8,000 pounds, while a fully armed RST will be capable of towing up to 10,000 pounds. Moreover, once the first edition models hit the road, a Work Truck with 20,000lbs of towing capacity will be introduced.
