Regenerative braking technology is a bliss for the efficiency of <a href="https://www.licarco.com/cars">all-electric vehicles</a>. But it takes time to get used to this helpful feature. Sometimes it gets annoying or makes no sense on some occasions. There is an option to turn it off, but things get complicated with <a href="https://www.licarco.com/news/how-many-tesla-cars-have-been-sold">Tesla vehicles</a>. Let us explain.
If you want to turn off regenerative braking on your Tesla, you probably won&#8217;t find any disabling option in the menu. Because turning off regenerative braking is not possible on a Tesla. It is also impossible to adjust the regen on Tesla vehicles built since Q2 2020. Tesla Model S/3/X/Y vehicles built before that date can still be able to offer adjustments. You just need to navigate through the main screen and go to Driving, then change the &#8216;Regenerative Braking&#8217; to &#8216;Low&#8217; for reducing the level of regenerative braking.
Newer Tesla vehicles come with standard level regen as default. There is no &#8216;Regenerative Braking&#8217; adjustment option anymore. So, why wouldn&#8217;t Tesla allow its drivers to adjust regenerative braking? The main reason is that the vehicle range is heavily affected by not being able to recuperate the energy you otherwise lost to heat, etc by pressing the brake pedal. Other automakers agree with Tesla as well. According to <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://electrek.co/2018/08/08/audi-e-tron-quattro-electric-suv-range-regen-braking/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Audi</a>, regenerative braking can extend the range by up to 30% on average. Soon, every new electric vehicle on the market will probably remove the option to adjust regenerative braking for the sake of efficiency.
<h2>How to Adjust Regenerative Braking on Tesla Model Y/3 and Model S/X?</h2>

If you drive a Tesla vehicle built before Q2 2022, your car&#8217;s main screen comes with an option to adjust regenerative braking. You just need to go to settings, then select the &#8216;Driving&#8217; menu from the left and change the &#8216;Regenerative Braking&#8217; option to &#8216;Low&#8217; for partially turning off the regen.
You won&#8217;t be able to turn off this feature. There is, however, a way to heavily limit the effects of regen braking. Here&#8217;s how:
<h3>Why Does Regenerative Braking Limited on My Tesla?</h3>
If you live in a cold area or your battery is fully charged, your Tesla vehicle would warn you about the regenerative braking is being limited. That&#8217;s because the battery is unable to receive the energy from the regen system and the battery&#8217;s management system temporarily turns off the regenerative braking feature. It might take up to half an hour for your vehicle to recover from that. In order to reduce the negative effects of this limitation, you can enable an extra feature for automatically applying the brake pedals instead of regen braking. Just go to Controls &gt; Pedals &amp; Steering, then turn on the &#8216;Apply Brakes When Regenerative Braking is Limited&#8217; option.
<h3>Does Regenerative Braking Work on Icy/Snowy Roads?</h3>
Not being able to turn off regenerative braking might sound dangerous on icy/snowy roads, but Tesla has a solution for this. In 2022, Tesla adjusted the traction control software of its vehicles and added a hidden snow mode. Its main function is to better handle regen braking adjustments on icy roads and snow. How to Turn Off Regenerative Braking on a Tesla?

Tesla vehicles are famous for their in-car entertainment experience. There are a bunch of games available for drivers to enjoy while charging their vehicles or spending some time inside the car. <h2>A Complete Guide to Connecting an Xbox Controller to Tesla Model 3/Y</h2>
If you want to play games with an Xbox controller on your Tesla, use a data cable (not a charge-only USB cable that lacks the data transfer function) to plug your controller into your Tesla Model 3/Y&#8217;s main screen via the USB-C ports in the center console or the USB-A port in the glove box. If you prefer a wireless connection, or your controller cannot be connected to your Tesla via cable, just follow our guide down below.
Step 1. Buy a wireless adapter/dongle for pairing your Xbox controller. <a href="https://amzn.to/3HCaTTv">8Bitdo Wireless USB Adapter 2</a> and <a href="https://amzn.to/3jyyigK">MAYFLASH Magic NS 2</a> are two of the most popular choices.
Step 2. Plug the wireless adapter into your Tesla via USB data ports. Use a USB-A to USB-C adapter if necessary. Please be aware that newer Model 3/Y vehicles don&#8217;t have USB data ports in the center console. You will need to use the USB-A port inside the glove compartment.
Step 3. Put your wireless adapter into pairing mode. 8Bitdo&#8217;s pairing button is on the bottom, whereas the Magic NS&#8217;s pairing mode can be activated by pressing the black button on the side until the light goes green and blinks fast.

Step 4. In order to put your controller into pairing mode, first press the Xbox button for one second until it lights up. Then, press and hold the circular pair button located on the back of the controller for three seconds.
Step 5. Once the wireless adapter and Xbox controller ared paired up, the lights on both of these devices will stop blinking. You will see a notification message on your Tesla&#8217;s screen that confirms the pairing.

EPA published a list of electric cars that scored the highest MPGe, which is the MPG equivalent of the EV world. Hyundai IONIQ 6 is the most efficient electric car, according to EPA. Electric sedan&#8217;s RWD Long Range version scored a 140 MPGe. The second most efficient model is the 2022&#8217;s champion, Tesla Model 3. Popular sedan&#8217;s RWD variant got an MPGe score of 132. The third most efficient electric car is also an American-made: Lucid Air. Another Tesla vehicle, Model Y got the fourth place in EPA&#8217;s most efficient EVs ranking. Tesla&#8217;s all four models made it into the list. This electric sedan is the most efficient of its kind, thanks to Tesla&#8217;s state-of-the-art heat pump used for thermal management of the battery pack, and highly-efficient custom design electric motors. Model 3 will increase its efficiency when Tesla update its battery with the new energy-dense 4680 cell and swap the old pack design with much lighter <a href="https://www.licarco.com/news/what-is-structural-battery-ctc-ctb-ev-battery-packs-explained">structural battery pack</a>.

Co-founded by a former Tesla executive, Lucid Motors has also spent millions for its customly designed battery pack and electric motors. Despite being one of the most luxurious electric vehicles on the market, Lucid Air can achieve high efficiency ratings thanks to its extremely low drag coefficient: 0.21 cd.
Lucid Air Grand Touring costs $154,000 in US. It is three times expensive than the more efficient Model 3. But Air offers a luxurious interior, smooth driving experience, and much higher performance.

Mid-size electric SUV comes with the standard battery pack with 2170 cells. AWD version features a structural battery pack, which is filled with larger 4680 cells. Tesla will use LFP batteries inside entry-level models, while higher trim levels will get the structural pack with Tesla&#8217;s special battery units.
Tesla Model Y RWD is currently not on sale in United States. European pricing starts at €44,890.

After Nevada state officials&#8217; confirmation, Tesla finally announced their next big factory investment at Giga Nevada today. Elon Musk&#8217;s company will invest over $3.6 billion to build Tesla&#8217;s largest EV battery cell production plant in the world.

Giga Nevada, also known as Gigafactory 1, is somewhat of a joint venture between Japanese battery maker Panasonic and Tesla. The initial investment made in 2014. Since then, both parties spent a total of $6.2 billion to create one of the largest manufacturing sites in the United States. According to Tesla, as of today, the Giga Nevada team has successfully produced more than 7.3 billion battery cells, 1.5 million battery packs, 3.6 million drive units, and 1 million energy modules.

The next phase of this investment will cost over $3.6 billion and includes a 100 GWh 4680 cell factory, as well as the first high-volume Tesla Semi factory. Giga Nevada is capable of producing 35 GWh of battery cells annually, which is enough to manufacture around 500K electric vehicles per year. But that is way less, not even half of what Tesla needs to put into its EVs. Because of that, LG Chem and CATL, two major battery cell suppliers of Tesla, have been shipping billions of cells to Tesla factories every year.
Texas-based EV maker is finally taking this matter into its own hands. 4680 cell manufacturing process is still in the works before reaching perfection at Kato Road. The dry-coating technique that helps Tesla reduce manufacturing costs and the environmental impact of cell production is yet to be scaled up. But there is enough time to improve before starting mass production at the new factory near Giga Nevada.
The estimated capacity of this factory will be 100 GWh, a huge capacity to produce enough batteries for 2 million electric vehicles. Tesla Investing $3.6 Billion to Build 100 GWh 4680 Cell Factory and More

Tesla has been aiming to enlarge Gigafactory Texas since the facility&#8217;s launch. But the extent of its intentions hasn&#8217;t been entirely apparent. The manufacturing capacity, surface area, and scope of the factory&#8217;s many projects are all expected to rise significantly due to the several expansion projects for which Tesla has just submitted formal documentation.
According to a report dated January 9, Tesla intends to put $770 million into building expansion projects to build additional structures covering an extra 1.4 million square feet. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation&#8217;s files contain plans for a number of initiatives. The enlargement plan calls for testing and producing battery cells, as well as producing cathodes, drive units, and die shops.
The enlargement project will eventually lead to a significant reworking of the plant&#8217;s present operations. The designated plans call for four distinct buildings, however, specifics may yet alter. Tesla has applied for the structures as &#8220;ground up and complete interior finish out of the production plant,&#8221; as new construction projects.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings show expansion costs at the Austin location
According to the filing, &#8220;Cell 1&#8221; will be the name of Tesla&#8217;s largest new building, which will be 693,093 ft2. Construction of the Cell 1 building will last from January 23, 2023, until February 12, 2024. The cost will be roughly $368 million.
The second-largest building will cost around $85 million to construct and have a surface area of 423,032 square feet. The structure, known as the &#8220;Drive Unit,&#8221; whose construction will start on February 6 and remain until January 15, 2024.
The next-largest structure is suitably dubbed &#8220;Cathode,&#8221; and assuming they are the same project, it was first reported in February when Tesla filed for up to 36 acres. Although the comparable cathode naming pattern would imply that it is, Austin Business Journal reports that it is still unclear if this is the same facility that was in a file on February 2 of last year. According to reports, Tesla started work on this project last August.
Finally, the smallest of Tesla&#8217;s four new structures, the &#8220;Cell Test Lab,&#8221; will be 2,560 square feet in size. The Cell Test Lab will cost roughly $3.7 million. Its development will take place from January 30, 2023, until August 25, 2023.
The news comes ahead of Tesla&#8217;s ambitions to begin producing the Cybertruck at its Texas site later this year. It is just the most recent in the automaker&#8217;s aspirations to expand its operations globally. With these additions, Tesla will grow its position as Central Texas&#8217; largest manufacturer while also adding essential, multi-stage production projects for the components required to make electric vehicles.

Although Tesla and Panasonic jointly own the Giga Nevada battery facility, the Semi will really go into serial production in the Austin-based Gigafactory Texas. The vehicle assembly line there, however, has not yet begun production. In a brand-new structure next to Reno&#8217;s Gigafactory 1, Tesla builds up a small truck production line with a weekly capacity of five cars.
Approximately 250 Semi trucks would be produced annually. But Tesla has considerably larger ambitions for the vehicle once it moves manufacturing to the Gigafactory in Texas. The EV manufacturer disclosed that it plans to increase Tesla Semi manufacturing to 50,000 cars annually in 2024. However, it appears that the company&#8217;s production goal for 2022 is far more modest, set at 100 Semi electric vehicles.

Tesla Targets to Produce 100 Semi-Electric Trucks by 2023

Last night, Elon Musk took the stage at Tesla&#8217;s 2022 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. It was an impressive milestone for a company that struggled to reincarnate the EV industry in its early days. In recent years, Tesla has made tremendous improvements in the mass production of pure electric vehicles. According to the latest information disclosed by the EV-maker, the Shanghai factory&#8217;s annual production capacity is around 750K. Its daily production rate will be ramped up to 2,600 vehicles before the year ends, bringing annual capacity to almost 1 million EVs.

Tesla still has a long way forward to be the production giant Elon wants it to become. There are four EV manufacturing plants that Tesla operates today; Fremont, Giga Shanghai, Giga Berlin, and Giga Texas. The automaker will build 6 to 8 more gigafactories in the future. Each factory will be designed to handle at least 1 to 2 million EV production annually. There is no certain timetable for the future factories but Elon heavily hinted that Tesla is looking for a third EV factory location in the North America region, including Canada, Mexico, and United States.
From what we understand, Tesla is certainly planning on increasing its annual output to almost 20 million vehicles in the next decade. This figure will make Tesla become the world&#8217;s biggest automaker. The company will not only produce passenger cars but also electric trucks, pick-ups, and MPVs as well.

How Many Teslas Have Been Sold? | Model S, 3, X, Y Sales By Year

The first Gigafactory of Tesla in Europe, the fourth one overall, is officially opened today by the company’s CEO Elon Musk. The initial announcement of building a factory in Europe was made two and a half years ago. The <a href="https://www.licarco.com/news/how-many-tesla-gigafactories/">Giga Berlin</a>-Brandenburg has started officially running today in the German capital.
During the opening ceremony, Tesla has delivered the first 30 Model Ys to the customers. These <a href="https://www.licarco.com/2021-tesla-model-y-performance/">Model Y</a> compact SUVs are the performance configuration of the vehicle and have a range of 320 miles.
The German government has given Tesla provisional approval to start commercial production at the factory in early March. This has allowed Tesla to produce up to 500.000 EVs per year at the Giga Berlin-Brandenburg. The original plan was to begin production in summer 2021; however, the coronavirus pandemic, supply chain disruptions, and environmental concerns have postponed the opening of the factory.
In February 2020, Tesla had to temporarily stop the construction of the factory due to environmental concerns of the local government. Defending the impact of the factory on the environment, Elon Musk argued that the water use of the factory will be relatively very little. He also stated that the forest cleared before the construction wasn’t natural because the trees had been planted for the company’s cardboard factory.

Although Tesla has aimed to produce up to 5,000 cars and 59 GWh of battery capacity annually at Giga Berlin, Musk has previously stated that increasing production will be a real challenge for the company. To achieve this objective, Tesla already hired over 3,000 workers and the number will go up to 12,000 eventually.
In the opening ceremony, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made a speech that acknowledges the importance of Tesla&#8217;s investment in Germany.
&#8220;The opening of the Tesla factory with Elon Musk in Brandenburg is an important sign: Germany is a strong location for industrial investments. This is how we will succeed in becoming carbon neutral and leading the transformation. The future belongs to electromobility.&#8221;
The Giga Berlin-Brandenburg will be a crucial logistical hub for Tesla because the company currently imports vehicles to Europe from its other factories. The Berlin Gigafactory is the fourth factory after Nevada, New York, and Shanghai. The fifth one is currently underway in Texas, where Tesla will also have its headquarters.

How Many Gigafactories Does Tesla Have? Tesla Factory Locations

Tesla is pushing for a new EV production record as there aren&#8217;t many days left in 2021. The Texas-based automaker has been constantly increasing the pace of production at its facilities. But now Giga Shanghai is at another level of its own. The latest drone footage shows that one <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/2021-tesla-model-y-performance/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tesla Model Y</a> produced every 38 to 44 seconds at the site! That means that the annual production rate of Giga Shanghai is at a whopping 683,000 vehicles.
When the Gigafactory 3, the Giga Shanghai first started to produce Model Y electric SUVs in February 2021, the estimated production pace is around one vehicle every 2 minutes. According to the latest drone shots, the Tesla China factory almost tripled its Model Y production pace in less than one year.
At the beginning of 2021, Tesla China can only make 29 Model Ys per hour. Now the Shanghai factory can produce more than 90 electric SUVs every hour. That is an outstanding performance, even for Tesla. Next year, Giga Shanghai will keep increasing its production rate to an annual total of 1 million EVs.

Tesla&#8217;s fourth and fifth vehicle production facilities can&#8217;t make it into production this year. But Tesla is confident that as soon as the final approvals are received Giga Berlin and Giga Texas will start producing EVs at a reasonably high pace next year. Austin-based Gigafactory 5 will probably start operating in the first weeks of 2022. Giga Berlin, on the other hand, is still waiting for German authorities&#8217; approval of its documents. The most recent footage came from Berlin shows a couple of German-made Model Ys assembled and parked in the parking area.

Tesla produces more than 90 Model Ys per hour in China

Tesla has been preparing for the start of production at its newest factory in the US. The automaker recently moved its headquarters from Fremont, California to Gigafactory Texas, as the factory site is getting crowded with more Tesla employees every day. Elon Musk just announced on his Twitter account that Tesla&#8217;s Gigafactory Texas investment will be more than $10 billion over time, generating 20,000 direct and +100,000 indirect jobs in the US.
<a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/cars/2021-tesla-model-y-performance/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tesla Model Y</a> production is expected to be started in Texas before the end of the year. Texas-based EV maker probably spent more than $1 billion for the first phase of this facility as of today, but its investment for Gigafactory Texas is not completed yet. Elon Musk confirmed that their second US EV factory will need more than $10 billion investment to be finished. Texas facility will double Tesla&#8217;s US production output when it is fully ramped up. Once the Cybertruck and Tesla&#8217;s first heavy-duty electric vehicle Tesla Semi production phases are complete, the overall production output of the Giga Texas will reach more than 500,000 vehicles per year. 
Gigafactory Texas will solve American carmaker&#8217;s &#8216;delivery problem&#8217; once starts operating. Right now, a new customer ready to pay for a brand-new Tesla EV needs to wait almost a year to take delivery of its order. The Model Y is the most popular Tesla in the market, Texas facility will surely help Tesla clear up its tight delivery schedule.
