Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

The renewal cycle at electric vehicle charging stations is in full swing.
Electrify America has announced plans to upgrade 600 chargers in 130 cities in California according to its latest &#8220;Cycle 4&#8221; regional investment plan. This seems to be a significant step for Electrify America, which is behind the Tesla Supercharger, Charge Point, and EVgo in JD Power&#8217;s 2023 Customer Satisfaction Index for charging experience and recognizes the need for improvement.
Electrify America installed the first tranche of charging stations in 2018 during what the company&#8217;s expansion plans called Cycle 1 and Cycle 2. These chargers are now nearing the end of their useful life in 2023. The company will try to solve this problem by investing $ 172 million in charging infrastructure in California.

80 million USD of the 172 million USD investment will be spent for the improvement and maintenance of existing facilities, while 92 million USD will be spent for network expansion.
In addition, company officials mentioned that the company&#8217;s 4th generation chargers are being &#8220;specially redesigned&#8221; with an improved human-machine interface (HMI) display, 5.5-metre cables, and enhanced remote diagnostic capabilities. However, no further information was shared about the timetable for the completion of the replacement process or the roadmap for the replacement of charging stations across the US.
The company had 800 stations distributing 173 gigawatt hours of electricity across the US in 2022.

Electrify America Is To Replace 600 Chargers In The US

In an effort to establish something far bigger than what it presently has with Electrify America, Walmart strives to build its own network of EV rapid charging stations. By 2030, the company intends to have &#8220;thousands&#8221; of chargers installed at all of its Walmart and Sam&#8217;s Club locations countrywide. According to a press release from the firm, there are already around 1,300 fast chargers spread across more than 280 sites in the United States.
The initial chargers won&#8217;t be installed right away, but according to the press release, Walmart wants to promote inexpensive costs. That almost seems like a direct criticism of the most recent pricing increases by Electrify America, which saw regular customers smacked with a 15% rate rise. Electrify America blamed the increases on &#8220;rising operational and energy costs&#8221; when it made the announcement in February.
<h2>Walmart Played a Key Role in Electrify America&#8217;s Growth</h2>
Although Walmart and Electrify America formerly collaborated on EV fast charging, both businesses now appear to be on divergent paths. In 2018, Electrify America stated that it will install solar panels at Walmart; since then, it appears to have expanded to other types of sites.
Since collaborating with Walmart, Electrify America has expanded its list of corporate sponsors to include Love&#8217;s Travel Stops, Ikea, Bank of America, and Meijer supermarkets. In an effort to go beyond road trips, it has now started to consider city charges and places at national parks.

In addition to building a coast-to-coast network of EV charging stations, Walmart has also modified the supply chains for its goods. These initiatives help to ensure sustainable living, in part. Walmart wants to make owning an EV appealing by making it simple and affordable, and by 2030, the country will have thousands of new charging stations.

EVgo Inc., the largest public fast charging network for EVs in the US has announced that it has agreed on a new supply deal with Delta Electronics, a global provider of power and energy management solutions. Under the new agreement, Delta will provide EVgo with 1,000 ultra-fast chargers with up to 350kW power output.
The EVgo charging network in more than 30 states currently serves over 60 metropolitan areas with more than 850 fast charging locations. According to the EVgo, 1,000 fast chargers from Delta are expected to lower the supply chain risk and expand the fast-charging base target in the US.
This supply agreement with Delta is one of EVgo’s steps towards its expansion to provide more charging stations in the US. EVgo has recently announced its project with General Motors (GM) and Pilot Company. This project will result in 2,000 ultra-fast charging stalls and up to 500 travel centers of Pilot and Flying J across more than 40 states.

Electrify America will bring the fast-charging EV network to over 25 IKEA stores in 18 different states of the US. The number of fast chargers will be over 220 and have a capacity of up to 350kW. Electrify America is planning to install the first chargers by the end of the year and the remaining ones by the end of the next year.
Ikea USA CEO Javier Quiñones said that their collaboration with Electrify America will bring ultra-fast public chargers to their stores for the first time and will help them become circular and climate positive. Ikea plans to become fully electrified in its deliveries by 2025.
In the light of the electrification of its deliveries, Ikea is also partnering with Electrify America’s commercial division to plant another 225 individual charging at its several business sites. By doing so, Ikea wants to encourage its customers and employees to own electric vehicles. Previously, Blink Level 2 charging stations were installed at multiple IKEA stores as early as 2011.

The partnership is the latest one between a charging station network and a brick-and-mortar business. Before this, Volvo and ChargePoint announced that they will plant multiple charging stations at Starbucks locations in five stations and GM will build a coast-to-coast charging network at Pilot and Flying J truck stops. Also, in June, new guidelines by the Biden administration are stated to make EV infrastructure more convenient, affordable, and accessible for the public.
Electrify America is the charging subsidiary of Volkswagen Group and is the largest open DC fast charging network in the U.S., is investing more than $2 billion in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure, education and access.

Electrify America and IKEA will install over 200 fast chargers

The US Postal Service (USPS) has initially ordered 50,000 units of the Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDV) from the Oshkosh Defense Company as a part of a $2.98-billion deal.
USPS <a href="https://www.licarco.com/news/usps-electrify-its-fleet-5000-ev">previously announced</a> that 10% of the first NGDVs will be electric but the latest statement from the company is that the share of the battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the initial order will be doubled.
The Us Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as a federal agency, has criticized the USPS and its 10-year contract with Oshkosh Defense and accused them of not being bold enough in terms of electrification.
Even though the agency has doubled the number of BEVs in its future NGDV fleet, they admitted that more BEVs would deliver greater emission benefits. The USPS stated that the contract with Oshkosh is flexible and will allow increasing the number of BEVs as financial resources become available.
The Postmaster General and USPS CEO Louis DeJoy elaborate on the agency’s strategy for the electrification:
&#8220;Since I came on board a year and a half ago, we have continuously evaluated and adjusted our vehicle purchase strategy based on our future network initiatives, ongoing review of BEV application to our operational strategy, and our financial outlook as we undertake our ongoing implementation of the Delivering for America plan. Based upon this work and our improving outlook, we have determined that increasing our initial electric vehicle purchase from 5,000 to 10,019 makes good sense from an operational and financial perspective.&#8221;
<h2>The Agency Committed to the Electrification</h2>

DeJoy also stated that the order and the contract with Oshkosh Defense demonstrate the agency’s commitment to inclusion of the electric vehicles into its fleet. Despite the electrification seems costly for now, the agency claims that it will continue its plan to electrify while being prudent fiscally.
USPS currently has 190.000 Long-Life Delivery Vehicles (LLV) on the road. Most of them are over 30 years old and don’t have safety features that are essential in most vehicles today. The NGDVs, unlike LLVs, will have feature air conditioning, improved ergonomics, increased cargo capacity, and more advanced vehicle and safety technology. Safety tech includes 360-degree cameras, advanced braking and traction control, airbags, a front-and rear-collision avoidance system that includes visual, audio warning, and automatic braking.
The NGDV’s design was displayed during CES 2022 and there will be four versions of new vans: two internal combustion engine types and two battery electric vehicle options, one of which will be two-wheel drive and one with four-wheel drive capability. The BEV version will have a range of 70 miles. The plan is to begin to send the new vans to U.S. destinations at the end of 2023.

&#8220;Most of our charging stations will be redesigned to fulfill and surpass the customers&#8217; expectations transitioning from a gas-powered car to an electrified existence,&#8221; said Giovanni Palazzo, president, and CEO of Electrify America. &#8220;By expanding on the basis of our rapid and dependable coast-to-coast network, these newer models will further aggrandize our customers&#8217; required to charge experience.&#8221;
The platforms will offer lobbies and electric vehicle exhibit spaces, as well as a designated event space, to attract customers by offering more plush. Likewise, customers will be protected from the elements by overhead canopies, and security systems will be put on-site. Meanwhile, valet services may be available at charging stations near malls.
Electrify America is putting solar awnings at 100 charging stations across the country, covering between 400 and 500 individual plugs. The awnings not only will prevent your automobile from cool weather conditions, but they&#8217;ll still absorb energy to help charge EVs. Aside from these advantages, the business is also offering a new charging design which is smaller than before, allowing it to be fitted in tighter spaces. The new charging units also include a clearer display that is buried deeper into the cabinet to prevent glitter and make it easier to read. They&#8217;ll also have a single connector cable with a brand-new cable management platform that would also make plugging in a breeze, regardless of where the port is placed.

Electrify America Debuts New Charging Stations Facilitated with Lounges and Event Venues

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced its electrification plans on Sunday, February 6. The USPS will order 5,000 electric delivery vans as a starting point to electrify 70% of its fleet by 2030.
Postmaster General and USPS Chief Executive Officer Louis DeJoy declared that the Postal Service is willing to increase its electric vehicle orders, but further funding is necessary for the electrification effort of the service. The CEO intended to emphasize the financial hardship of the USPS to run an environment-friendly fleet.
DeJoy elaborated on the USPS’s current position in the delivery sector: “Moreover, comparisons of the Postal Service to private sector multi-national corporations that report yearly profits in the billions of dollars, and that are not required to go to 161 million delivery addresses in all climates and topographies six days per week, are not relevant in view of our perilous financial condition and universal service mission.”

The Postal Service has announced on February 23, 2021, that a new generation of U.S.-built postal delivery vehicles will be manufactured as per the 10-year contract with Oshkosh Defence. Almost a year ago, USPS declared that the new vans from Oshkosh would initiate the most important modernization of its fleets in thirty years.
Under this contract, Oshkosh would conclude the production design of the USPS’s Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) with an initial investment of $482 million. The company would also assemble up to 165,000 NGDVs for the Postal Service.
The NGDV’s design was displayed during CES 2022 last month and there will be four versions of new vans: two internal combustion engine types and two battery electric vehicle options, one of which will be two-wheel drive and one with four-wheel drive capability. The BEV version will have a range of 70 miles. The plan is to begin to send the new vans to U.S. destinations at the end of 2023.

Members of the Biden administration sent letters to the USPS, advising it to reconsider its plan to buy gas-powered NGDVs. The Postal Service plans to buy a great number of ICE delivery vans and this plan will affect the government’s plan to make federal cars and trucks environmental-friendly because the fleet of the USPS constitutes a third of the government’s fleet.
The Postmaster General implied that if additional funding will not become available, the USPS will not be able to increase the electric vehicles in the fleet of USPS. &#8220;Absent such funding, we must make fiscally responsible decisions that result in the needed introduction of safer and environmentally cleaner vehicles for the men and women who deliver America’s mail.”
The Postal Service has worked closely with federal agencies to achieve its plan’s compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) which encourages federal agencies to consider the environmental impacts of their new plans. In the latest release, the USPS claims that its electrification plan fully met the requirements of the statute.

The rental car company Hertz placed a huge order for 100,000 Tesla electric vehicles, according to <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-10-25/hertz-orders-100-000-teslas-tsla-stock-soars" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bloomberg News</a>. American firm recently emerged from bankruptcy after almost one and a half years. Hefty <a href="https://www.licarco.com/cars/?filter=tesla">Tesla</a> order will be the first step to electrifying its rental-car fleet.
Early in the coronavirus pandemic last year, Hertz filed for bankruptcy protection, it was drowning in $18 billion in debt. Thanks to the bounce back in the car rental market, it is returning as a much stronger company to tackle the electrification process it needs to go through. Hertz also filed paperwork with the SEC for an initial public offering this month. The company will raise additional cash with the IPO, in order to fund rental renewals and reorganization costs it has to deal with in the post-pandemic period. A big part of that cash will be used to buy thousands of Teslas, recent reports showed.
<h2>Largest Tesla Order Ever</h2>
Hertz will spend more than $4.2 billion for the 100,000 Teslas it will purchase. It is the single largest order ever for electric vehicles. Tesla EVs will be delivered over the next 14 months, most of them will be the mid-range electric sedan Model 3. First Teslas will be available to rent starting as soon as next month. Rental customers will have access to Tesla&#8217;s Supercharger network in the United States and Europe, Hertz is also investing in a private charging station network for its own. 
American rental company will eventually electrify its all rental fleet. 100,000 Teslas is just the beginning, almost all of Hertz&#8217;s half-million cars and trucks will be fully electric in the near future.
