Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

Geely one of China&#8217;s largest automobile groups is buying Proterra Powered. The company has been operating in the field of battery supply for electric buses and commercial vehicles in the USA for 20 years for $ 210 million!
Proterra Powered is a battery and motor manufacturer affiliated with Proterra, which filed for bankruptcy protection in August 2023 due to difficulties in supplying battery cells and seeking funding. 20 years of experience and customer portfolio will be transferred to the Chinese with the agreement.
Proterra Powered&#8217;s battery solutions were previously used by Anadolu Isuzu in Turkey for the Citi VOLT electric bus. The company has a battery pack/module development center in California and a battery assembly plant in South Carolina.

Critical Battery Investment In The US By Chinese Geely

Volvo has unveiled plans to sell an all-electric minivan in China, where it will be one of the company&#8217;s top-of-the-line cars, alongside the EX90 SUV. There is no information on when it will be released or whether it will be sold outside of China. But we have a pretty decent idea as to which newly launched car it will be matched to.
The news that there will be a Volvo version came during a media briefing held by Qin Peiji, President of Volvo Cars Greater China Sales Company. According to some reports, Volvo will reveal its electric people carrier in concept form in the third quarter of 2023 and the production version will be shown and launched before the end of the year.
The six-seat Zeekr 009 is a vehicle of the same design that rides on the same Geely Sustainable Experience Architecture platform that the Volvo will be manufactured on. It resembles the Swedish manufacturer&#8217;s reimagining of the Volvo electric MPV. It includes a large 140 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 536 horsepower, giving it a stated range of 511 miles/822 kilometers.
During a press conference given by Qin Peiji, President of Volvo Cars Greater China Sales Company, it was announced that there will also be a Volvo model. Volvo will unveil its electric people carrier in concept form in the third quarter of 2023, and the production version will be displayed and unveiled before the year is through.

There are more than 450 charging stations Geely and Zeekr installed in the last couple of months. Most of these stations are capable of 360 kW DC charging, which is enough to give Zeekr 001 a range of 120 kilometers in 5 minutes. The next-gen chargers will be a lot more competitive than the first stations.
China&#8217;s largest privately-owned automaker is also getting ready to sell fully-electric vehicles outside of China by launching <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/zeekr-001-dual-motor-you" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Zeekr</a> brand to European customers. EV-only brand is doing really well in mainland China, as the brand&#8217;s first vehicle Zeekr 001 passed 40,000 sales last month after its launch in October 2021.

Electrify America will bring the fast-charging EV network to over 25 IKEA stores in 18 different states of the US. The number of fast chargers will be over 220 and have a capacity of up to 350kW. Electrify America is planning to install the first chargers by the end of the year and the remaining ones by the end of the next year.
Ikea USA CEO Javier Quiñones said that their collaboration with Electrify America will bring ultra-fast public chargers to their stores for the first time and will help them become circular and climate positive. Ikea plans to become fully electrified in its deliveries by 2025.
In the light of the electrification of its deliveries, Ikea is also partnering with Electrify America’s commercial division to plant another 225 individual charging at its several business sites. By doing so, Ikea wants to encourage its customers and employees to own electric vehicles. Previously, Blink Level 2 charging stations were installed at multiple IKEA stores as early as 2011.

The partnership is the latest one between a charging station network and a brick-and-mortar business. Before this, Volvo and ChargePoint announced that they will plant multiple charging stations at Starbucks locations in five stations and GM will build a coast-to-coast charging network at Pilot and Flying J truck stops. While Volvo Cars is trying to find ways to create an EV charging corridor in the Pacific Northwest, Volvo Trucks is also attempting to build another charging network for its all-electric semi-trucks in production and it has already started making partnerships with key players.
Volvo is about to ally with Shell Recharge Solutions (formerly known as Greenlots), TEC Equipment, Affinity Truck Center, and Western Truck Center. The partnership aims to build a widely accessible medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicle (MHD EV) charging network along with the most important port cities and industrial centers throughout California.
The California Energy Commission (CEC) under BESTFIT has granted the Volvo Group a $2 million endowment to begin “the Electrified Charging Corridor Project”.  The project will help to overcome the problems of long-range MHD EV deployments and slow widespread adoption.

Peter Voorhoeve, president of Volvo Trucks North America, explains the project’s goal as opening the door to a completely electrified freight future in which zero-tailpipe emission MHD EV trucks will be no longer limited to short-mileage and return-to-base operations and will reach far and wide across the state. He also stated that:
“We are excited to begin construction of the Electrified Charging Corridor Project this year in collaboration with these pioneering truck dealerships so that we can further support fleets in successfully integrating battery-electric trucks into their operations, including our Volvo VNR Electric model. With the support of the CEC helping to drive and manifest this project, we will see an accelerated progression with ripple effects across the industry.”
The Electrified Charging Corridor Project has three main targets for convenient charging. First, it will help small business fleets that will be in financial hardship if they make a major investment into the charging network. Secondly, the project will create opportunities for the fleets looking to pilot an MHD EV through rent or short-term leasing. And thirdly, fleets that need an OEM-neutral location to “opportunity charge” along their route will benefit from the charging network of Volvo Group.
CEC Commissioner Patty Monahan states that “The Energy Commission is thrilled to support the Electrified Charging Corridor Project, which will help California meet its goals for zeroing out tailpipe emissions from trucks.”
Volvo Trucks claims that the project will begin very quickly later this year with all five stations planned to be available by the end of 2023.

Volvo to build a charging corridor for its all-electric trucks

Volvo has aimed to produce only fully electric cars by 2030 and to become carbon neutral by 2040. In pursuit of this, the company has announced its investment of $1.25 billion into the third factory in Europe in addition to its two plants in Sweden and Belgium.
The new factory will be located near Kosice in eastern Slovakia, which is very important location for the company. Volvo Cars creates a European triangle of manufacturing covering its largest sales region — complementing the Ghent plant (Belgium) in western Europe and the Torslanda plant (Sweden) in northern Europe.
The building of the Slovakia factory will begin in 2023 and production equipment and production lines will be assembled in 2024. The Slovakian government will undertake 20% of the investment. The mass production of the &#8216;next generation&#8217; electric Volvos will start by 2026.
By ‘next generation’, it means Volvo&#8217;s mega casting technology will produce most of the vehicle chassis in one piece with giant aluminum casting machines. Thanks to the new technique that will reduce the production cost and vehicle weight, the new generation Volvo electric vehicles will be able to offer a much longer range compared to their counterparts, and more space for the driver and passengers in the car.

The Swedish automotive giant plans to produce approximately 250.000 electric cars per year in its third European factory. The company will meet its energy needs from entirely renewable sources and will ensure that the aluminum used in the factory is produced in the most environmental-friendly way.
Volvo predicts that it will increase its annual automobile production capacity to 1.2 million by 2025 with the start of production in Slovakia. European factories will undertake half of this capacity, while facilities in the USA and China will meet the other half.
The company has decided to build a new plant in Slovakia because of not only the European automobile market but also the generous incentive of the Slovakian government. Volvo still sells the most cars in Europe. The company has made significant gains in the Chinese market recently whereas they will continue to be the western-oriented brand of the Geely Group, as can be understood with this investment move.

According to the WLTP standard, the new electric SUV will have a range of 373 miles/600 kilometers. As of yet, there are no EPA range numbers available but estimate it to be 10% to 15% lower than the WLTP figure. There are no pricing details available at this time.
