Kia EV6 is an electric crossover SUV unveiled in 2021. It is the second EV after Hyundai Ioniq 5 that uses the next generation e-GMP platform. Thanks to being a purely electric car, EV6 has up to 52 liters of luggage capacity in the front.
Electric SUV is being offered with five different options: Standard Range 2WD, Standard Range 4WD, Long Range 2WD, Long Range 4WD, and EV6 GT. At the top of the line-up, EV6 can produce 585 HP and 740 Nm torque. It also has two battery options: 58-kWh and 77.4-kWh. EV6’s range can go as far as 510 kilometers on a single charge.
Long Range version of the EV6 will be delivered to customers in US, Europe, and South Korea in October 2021. More powerful version Kia EV6 GT will be available sometime in the 2022. EV6 Long Range models start at around £40,000 in the UK. EV6’s US pricing estimated to be around $45,000.
<h2>Performance</h2>
Kia EV6 Long Range 2WD option has 228 HP and 350 Nm torque, whereas Long Range 4WD model can produce 325 horsepower, 605 Nm torque and 0-100 km/h performance at 5.2 seconds.
Standard Range 2WD EV6 offers 170 HP, dual motor version however offers up to 235 HP and an impressive 605 Nm torque.
EV6 GT offers 585 horsepower and 740 Nm torque. 0-100 km/h only takes 3.5 seconds. Top speed is 260 km/h. It is faster than both Tesla Model Y Performance and Porsche Taycan 4S.
Kia EV6 has a towing capacity of up to 1,600 kilograms. 58 kWh Standard Range option can only tow up to 750 kg though. These figures are true when the car has more than 35% battery charge.
<h2>Design and Features</h2>
Kia uses the new ‘digital tiger face’ which is basically shut down partially to improve aerodynamical efficiency. Lower part of the front bumper still allows air flow to pass through in order to provide cooling for the battery system. EV6 has a lightbar at the back, giving the vehicle a very sleek look. Electric crossover can be one of the best looking EVs on the market right now.
There are some similarities between the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 interior-wise. But Kia designed its EV with more vivid colors and patterns, black dashboard design also looks impressive.
Kia EV6 has two 12” curved touch displays located in the center of the dashboard and wrapped around as one body. One screen is for the infotainment system and the other functions as the digital gauge cluster. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with wireless connection is standard. There is also a Meridian sound system option with 14 speakers available for the EV6.
Kia puts a dedicated button for reclining the front seats all the way back. While your car charging you can recline your seat with a simple push of a button. Both front and back seats have USB-C charging ports, back seat ports located very cleverly at the side of the front seats.
<h2>Range and Charging</h2>
Kia EV6 comes with both 58-kWh and 77.4-kWh battery packs. It does offer more range than its sibling Ioniq 5 which is 510 kilometers with the larger battery. High performance EV6 GT’s range will be around 400 kilometers when fully charged according to the WLTP estimates.
EV6 GT and EV6 Long Range models all support 220 kW 800V DC ultra-fast charging. It takes 18 minutes to charge EV6 from 10% to 80%. AC charging time is 7 hours and 20 minutes according to the official data.
Korean electric SUV can also share its electricity via V2L feature. Charging port can supply up to 3.6 kW of power, powering up your appliances in your caravan will not be an issue. You can even charge another electric vehicle with the Kia EV6.

Kia EV6 GT

Kia Soul EV is one of the cheapest electric crossovers on the market. It shares the same electric drivetrain with the Kia e-Niro and Hyundai Kona. Electric version of the Soul offers 39 kWh and 64 kWh battery options, same as the Kia e-Niro. Electric motor power is 136 HP and 204 HP respectively.
Original Kia Soul designed by the automaker’s California design center. The Soul EV, also known as e-Soul, is being built in South Korea since its launch in 2014. Latest version of the Soul EV has been delayed for US market, but it can be bought in most of the Europe, and Canada. Soul EV priced at around $36,000 in Europe.
<h2>Performance</h2>
Soul EV comes with 134 HP and 204 HP electric motor options, both drivetrains have the same 395 Nm torque figure. These models can get from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds and 7.8 seconds respectively. Top speed is 155 km/h with the Soul EV 39 kWh and 167 km/h in the Soul EV 64 kWh.
<h2>Design and Features</h2>
Kia Soul EV is a cute-looking compact electric crossover. It has a fully closed front grille which can reduce aerodynamic drag, and not so aerodynamical but distinctive boxy exterior design. It has got slim headlights on the front and very long taillights on the back. It has been using almost the same design for a couple of years, revamped version might be on its way later in the 2022.
It has a wide 10.25-inch infotainment display which runs the same operating system installed in all new mid-range Kia and Hyundai vehicles. Android Auto &amp; Apple CarPlay support is a must these days and Soul EV does provide its driver with that.
Kia includes a special feature to the electric crossover called “mood lighting” which is basically customizable colorful interior lights. Harmon Kardon sound system and wireless charging for the smartphones are optional, but you get couple of USB ports as usual.
Thanks to its boxy design, Soul EV has lots of space for both front and back seat passengers. Luggage capacity is quite low, around 300 liters.
<h2>Range and Charging</h2>
Kia Soul EV can be equipped with two battery packs which offer 39-kWh and 64-kWh capacity. Electric Soul with the smaller pack can travel up to 289 kilometers on a single charge. Bigger battery option allows Soul EV to go as far as 450 km. 100 kW DC rapid charging is standard for both battery options.

Chinese electric vehicle brands are a top priority at Licarco because the EV market has become increasingly dominated by pure electric Chinese cars. Last year, China sold more EVs than the rest of the world. BYD, NIO, ORA, and Geely are some of the biggest Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers.
Even though China has been producing millions of EVs for years, American drivers wouldn&#8217;t be able to buy one. It&#8217;s because vehicles made in China are subjected to a %27.5 import tariff in the US. Due to heavy taxation, Chinese brands had not prioritized the US auto market in their global plans. But that&#8217;s changing quickly, as more and more Chinese EV marques are expanding their reach towards western markets, including United States.
In this article, we gathered a list of Chinese EV brands and their expansion plans. We will update this post when an announcement is made regarding any Chinese EV maker&#8217;s global expansion.

Leapmotor, an emerging EV brand backed by Dahua Technology, has plans to enter the European market in 2023. The brand officials confirmed that Leapmotor would open showrooms in Europe. To finance its globalization plans, Hangzhou-based carmaker filed its first IPO that worths around $1.5bn at Hong Kong Exchange.
The brand has already started to sell electric vehicles in Turkey and Israel, starting with the compact hatchback called <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/leapmotor-t03" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leapmotor T03</a>. The first EV to be showcased in Europe will probably be the electric sedan C01. With its sleek design, cell-to-chassis technology, and impressive performance figures, <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/leapmotor-c01" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leapmotor C01</a> will attract a lot of customers.

BYD first entered Norway with the full-size electric SUV called <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/2022-byd-tang-ev" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tang EV</a>. Over the next months, China&#8217;s biggest EV manufacturer will start selling vehicles all over the world. BYD EVs are already available in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. European countries where BYD will start operations before the end of 2022 are the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, and Sweden.
BYD will export these three electric vehicle models to Old Continent; compact electric SUV <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/byd-atto-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BYD Atto 3</a>, electric sedan <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/2022-byd-han-ev" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BYD Han EV</a>, and BYD Tang EV. India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam will also be subject to BYD&#8217;s global expansion, as official statements confirmed.
Unfortunately, BYD has no plans to enter the American market yet. But there is a possibility of Chinese EV maker using its new premium brand, which reportedly will deliver a $145K+ luxury EV to the market, to attract customers from United States.

NIO is one of the first Chinese automakers, which officially confirms its entry into the US market. NIO-branded EVs will be on sale in the US starting in 2025. Large-size SUV ES8 is currently being tested on US roads. There is no official timeline for the US launch, though.
Chinese EV marque will also start selling EVs in Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. The next move on the global plans is to enter more European markets such as Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, and the Czech Republic. NIO is hoping to sell electric vehicles in 25 countries by 2025.

In February 2022, Xpeng opened its first showroom in Stockholm, Sweden. Guangzhou-based company will start selling EVs in Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden before the year ends. The company&#8217;s first offering will be the mid-range electric sedan <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/xpeng-p5-600p" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Xpeng P5</a>.
Xpeng expects half of its electric vehicle sales in 2025 to come from outside of China. Europe is its first choice but customers from the US will eventually get a taste of Xpeng&#8217;s popular cars in the near future. Chinese brand signed a dealership agreement with a Turkish company to sell EVs in Turkey as well. The first vehicle to be put on sale in Turkey will be <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/xpeng-p7-4wd-high-performance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Xpeng P7</a>.

Geely is a global automotive group. There are brands under the Geely Group that sell vehicles all over the world. Zeekr will be joining those brands next year by entering the European market. EV-only brand will make it official in early 2023, as Zeekr announced.
Zeekr has only one model on sale called Zeekr 001, but it has plans to launch a total of seven EVs by 2025. Its 2025 sales goal in Europe is 100,000 vehicles. There is no word whether Zeekr will sell EVs in Scandinavia, western/or eastern Europe. Follow us for more details.

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has officially entered the United Kingdom and Germany with its EV-only brand ORA. GWM introduced the first vehicles to be put on sale in Europe earlier this year. <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/ora-cat-64-kwh" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ORA Cat/Funky Cat</a> is the first one for the western market.
The company appoints Emil Frey to distribute vehicles starting in Germany. That is not the first time GWM to choose Germany for its global expansion. Chinese automaker&#8217;s battery division SVOLT opened a battery plant in Germany as well. Recently SVOLT announced its second investment worth €2.0bn, which would enable them to produce lithium-ion battery cells directly in the country.

Li Auto is relatively late to the EV party, as their first choice of vehicle type is extended-range electric vehicles (EREV). BT The company will launch its first pure-electric model sometime next year. There are also plans for a possible production site in Europe.
Beijing-based automaker will be looking for partnerships to start selling EVs in Europe as soon as next year. No official info regarding which countries will get to buy Li Auto EREVs yet.

The expected change took place in the battery cell factory to be established in Turkey by the American automotive giant Ford and its business partner Koç Holding. It announced that it has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with LG Energy Solution for the lithium-ion battery cell production facility. LG is the second-largest lithium-ion battery manufacturer in the world which previously made battery factory investments in the USA with Ford. The company plans to start the production of more affordable LFP cells soon. Additionally, the company also produces high-energy density battery cells with NMC and NCA cathodes. Cell types will be available in the facility in three years.
<h2>First Phase in 2026, Second Phase in 2029</h2>
The first phase of the factory investment will be completed in 2026. According to Ford&#8217;s statement, the annual battery cell production capacity in the first phase will be 25 GWh. With the commissioning of the second phase in 2029, the total capacity of the Ford-LG-Koç joint plant will reach 45 GWh.
Just like Ford, Koç Holding has been collaborating with LG for a long time. In three years, Koç-Ford Otosan will be able to cease importing cells and build entirely domestic battery packs. The company uses cells from LG&#8217;s 70 GWh facility in Poland for E-Transit.
LG has been producing battery cells in a total of six countries. It includes the USA, South Korea, China, Poland, Indonesia, and Canada. The company will add Turkey to its portfolio as the seventh country. The battery giant has a total production capacity of around 200 GWh as of the end of 2022. Nio Building A Manufacturing Plant In The United States

According to Reuters, the new Georgia factory will produce both the Hyundai Ioniq 7 and the Kia EV9 — 7-passenger battery-electric SUVs specifically designed for American drivers. The ultimate official statement is likely to come later in the month, once President Biden travels to South Korea.
Hyundai announced recently a $300 million investment to transform its Alabama production plant to produce the battery-electric Genesis GV 70 and a hybrid Santa Fe. The GV 70 will indeed be Hyundai&#8217;s first electric vehicle produced in the United States. Kia has stated that it will have 14 electric vehicles by 2027. Hyundai has stated that it will launch 17 vehicles by 2030, including six for its luxury Genesis brand.

According to Reuters, the Ioniq 7&#8217;s battery will be supplied by SK On, a division of SK Innovation.
The AJC says, “The incentive package that state officials would offer to land the Hyundai Motor expansion is not immediately clear, but it could rival the record-breaking $1.5 billion bounties of perks negotiated for Rivian, which includes free land, grants, tax credits, a workforce training center, and infrastructure improvements.”
Georgia is planning to commit public resources to two major automotive manufacturers — Rivian and Hyundai/Kia — in the hopes of creating thousands of manufacturing jobs, and transforming rural areas of the state.
The arrangement with Georgia and Hyundai Motor is still in the works. Governor Kemp is now being called into question by the ex-senator David Perdue. Gas-Powered Delivery Scooters In Seoul Will Go 100% Electric

Stellantis, the world’s fourth-largest automaker, plans to build a battery plant in the US. The announcement is made on Wednesday that the company will invest $4.1 billion in a new battery factory in Canada together with South Korea’s LG Energy Solution, formerly known as LG Chem.
Stellantis, the parent company of Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler, created a joint venture with LG last year and the venture will build two planned battery factories. The first will be in Windsor, Ontario. The battery facility in Canada is expected to begin building later this year and will be launched in the first quarter of 2024.  The factory is expected to have an annual production capacity of more than 45-gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs.
The officials announced at the event on Wednesday that the second factory will be constructed in the US. Stellantis has also released that another venture with Samsung SDI will build a battery plant in North America.

Stellantis has stated that it targets to sell 5 million electric vehicles by 2030. The company has announced a detailed electrification plan in 2021 to produce EV versions of its existing cars, including Dodge Ram 1500 and multiple Jeep models.  The fourth-largest automaker has also shown the plans Chrysler Airflow concept.
While the auto industry is getting electrified day by day, battery producing capacity is also growing. Almost every major automaker globally has announced battery factory plans, including allocating billions to the production of batteries which are the most critical component for their vehicles.
Ford Company has three new battery plants that will have 129 GWh capacity per year whereas General Motors with LG Energy Solutions plans to build four new battery factories with a total annual capacity of 140GWh. Volkswagen is also aiming to have six battery cell production plants operating in Europe by 2030 for a total of 240GWh a year.
Stellantis have an objective of having a capacity of 45 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year with the new Windsor factory while the latest battery plant plans in the US will contribute to the company’s battery production capacity.

Edison Motors has officially acquired the financially troubled Ssangyong. Mahindra&amp;Mahindra, the leading stakeholder of Korean SUV manufacturer, decided to sell %75 of its stake in June 2020, and Ssangyong has applied for bankruptcy in December 2020.
After the Korean bankruptcy court’s approval, a consortium led by Edison Motors will pay about $255 million for the %95 of the Ssangyong. Edison Motors, a leading EV firm in Korea, plans to introduce 20 new electric cars until 2025 and 10 more until 2030 to the global automobile market.
Edison Motors is currently manufacturing only commercial electric vehicles and it is predicted that the company will invest about $850 million in the electrification of Ssangyong. Also, it is reported that the transformation plan by Edison will be detailed by March 1. The firm has plans to enter into the passenger EV market and to challenge Tesla with two high-powered EVs known as Smart S and Smart X.
Ssangyong has been trying to overcome its economic problems for many years. The Korean SUV manufacturer company was about to go bankrupt in 2011 but Mahindra &amp; Mahindra had saved the Ssangyong with its major investments. However, global sales did not meet the expectations and M&amp;M has called off all future investments in April 2020, two months before the decision of selling its shares.
<h2>Ssangyong Korando e-Motion EV will be on sale</h2>

Despite its debts, Ssangyong has begun the production of its first electric vehicle, Ssangyong Korando e-Motion last year. After handling the financial and organizational problems of the firm, this model will be introduced to European customers. Although the export of this EV to Europe has started months ago, the official launch was postponed due to the troubles in cash flow.
The EV Korando e-Motion has a 61.5-kWh LG Chem battery, 190 horsepower, and 360 Nm of torque. This electric SUV, which can be driven 339 km on a single charge, has a price tag of €36,000 in Spain. The first deliveries will be completed in the next months.
It is reported that Ssangyong will launch a new model in 2022, as well. The firm is also currently developing another EV, a big SUV codenamed as J100. The official launch date is still unclear due to its bankruptcy process and its acquisition, however, Edison Motors guaranteed that the acquisition process will be smooth and maximum efforts will be made in order to deliver the maximum number of electric car deliveries to the customers as soon as possible.
