Hyundai completely redesigned its popular B-SUV Kona. It&#8217;s now an EV-first vehicle model. Previous versions of the Hyundai Kona Electric were simple ICE-to-EV conversions. 
The all-new Kona Electric is not only more powerful, it&#8217;s also more efficient than the last year&#8217;s model. Long range version with the bigger 65.4-kWh battery pack offers up to 490 kilometers of range. But charging speed hasn&#8217;t changed. It still supports 100 kW DC charging, which is enough to get the charge level from 10 to 80 percent in 41 minutes. Thanks to improved thermal management, new Kona Electric will preserve its high charging rates and travel longer distances in cold temperatures.

Kia Soul EV is one of the cheapest electric crossovers on the market. It shares the same electric drivetrain with the Kia e-Niro and Hyundai Kona. Electric version of the Soul offers 39 kWh and 64 kWh battery options, same as the Kia e-Niro. Electric motor power is 136 HP and 204 HP respectively.
Original Kia Soul designed by the automaker’s California design center. The Soul EV, also known as e-Soul, is being built in South Korea since its launch in 2014. Latest version of the Soul EV has been delayed for US market, but it can be bought in most of the Europe, and Canada. Soul EV priced at around $36,000 in Europe.
<h2>Performance</h2>
Soul EV comes with 134 HP and 204 HP electric motor options, both drivetrains have the same 395 Nm torque figure. These models can get from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds and 7.8 seconds respectively. Top speed is 155 km/h with the Soul EV 39 kWh and 167 km/h in the Soul EV 64 kWh.
<h2>Design and Features</h2>
Kia Soul EV is a cute-looking compact electric crossover. It has a fully closed front grille which can reduce aerodynamic drag, and not so aerodynamical but distinctive boxy exterior design. It has got slim headlights on the front and very long taillights on the back. It has been using almost the same design for a couple of years, revamped version might be on its way later in the 2022.
It has a wide 10.25-inch infotainment display which runs the same operating system installed in all new mid-range Kia and Hyundai vehicles. Android Auto &amp; Apple CarPlay support is a must these days and Soul EV does provide its driver with that.
Kia includes a special feature to the electric crossover called “mood lighting” which is basically customizable colorful interior lights. Harmon Kardon sound system and wireless charging for the smartphones are optional, but you get couple of USB ports as usual.
Thanks to its boxy design, Soul EV has lots of space for both front and back seat passengers. Luggage capacity is quite low, around 300 liters.
<h2>Range and Charging</h2>
Kia Soul EV can be equipped with two battery packs which offer 39-kWh and 64-kWh capacity. Electric Soul with the smaller pack can travel up to 289 kilometers on a single charge. Bigger battery option allows Soul EV to go as far as 450 km. 100 kW DC rapid charging is standard for both battery options.

Overview
Hongqi E-HS3 is a mid-range fully electric SUV, manufactured in China by FAW Car Company. Modern looking E-HS3 will produce 155 horsepower with its single electric motor option. AWD version of the E-HS3 has 310 HP and it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds. Both of this FWD and AWD version use the same battery pack that has 52.2 kWh energy capacity, this is enough for a range of more than 400 kilometers on a single charge.
E-HS3 is the first electric SUV that Hongqi brand launched. Chinese luxury car brand did manage to create an outstanding vehicle, especially on the interior side of the E-HS3. Hongqi has been selling this compact SUV since February 2019. Chinese government owned carmaker will keep expanding its business in Europe and Middle East. One of the biggest rivals of the E-HS3 are MG ZS EV, SERES 3, and Kona Electric. Hongqi E-HS3 will also be available to Turkish customers later in the 2021.
<h2>Performance</h2>
Hongqi E-HS3 has two drivetrains available to order, single motor FWD and dual motor AWD. Hongqi uses a single 155 HP PMS motor in FWD version. On the other hand all-wheel drive E-HS3 can produce 310 HP and  680 Nm of torque. Two powerful electric motors give E-HS3 AWD a sport car-like performance, 0-100 km/s in 6.0 seconds.
<h2>Design</h2>
Huge grille with blueish accent color is the centerpiece of the Hongqi E-HS3’s front end. The side and back of the vehicle are pretty usual, car looks like any Chinese SUV available in the market right now.
Unlike the Hongqi HS5 and HS7’s lluxurious interiors, E-HS3 comes with technologically advanced but very decent looking interior setup. It has a fully digital 12.3 inch gauge cluster, a HUD head up display that helps driver easily check on speed, consumption and other stuff.
E-HS3’s one of the most unique interior feature is Bose Personal Plus speakers mounted in the headrest, allowing 360-degree sound experience.
There is a 10.1 inch infotainment touch screen, below that there is another touch display for climate control. Seats of the vehicle does have electrically adjustable back support. Thanks to flat floor and spacious interior, back row seats positioned and angled very similiar to a sedan vehicle. E-HS3 offers a much more comfortable drive to its passengers compared to other SUVs in this segment.
<h2>Range and Charging</h2>
Single and dual motor options of the electric car equipped with a 52.5 kWh battery pack. That gives drivers up to 407 kilometers of range.
Hongqi E-HS3 does support 100 kW DC fast-charging, 15 minutes is enough to increase its charge from 30 to 80 percent. Combined energy consumption of 13.6 kWh is the official NEDC data provided by the manufacturer.

JAC iEV7s is an all-electric compact SUV manufactured by Chinese automaker JAC Motors. iEV7s uses a 40 kWh Samsung battery pack and gives its driver a range of 320 kilometers. It’s been available for European customers for almost two years. JAC Motors uses the XEV branding for the vehicle in some countries, but JAC iEV7s and XEV iEV7s are the same vehicle. Similiarly priced <a href="https://www.licarco.com/2021-hyundai-kona-electric-100-kw/">Hyundai Kona Electric 100 kW</a> is the main competitor of the iEV7s.
<h2>XEV iEV7s Performance</h2>
iEV7s has a 110 HP electric motor in the front, it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. Apart from its dull speeding performance, 130 km/h top speed is decent for a smooth highway experience.
According to generous NEDC standard, battery electric SUV will consume 11.5 kWh per 100 kilometers while driving in the city. Energy consumption of JAC iEV7s increases to 19 kWh in highway driving, combined consumption is 15 kWh/100 km.
<h2>Design</h2>
Similiar to its predecessor iEV6E, the JAC iEV7s has blue accents all over its exterior design, from bumpers to charging port and even on the inside. It hasn’t been facelifted ever since its launch in 2017, but the design and practicality of the interior good enough to convince a budget electric SUV buyer.
The iEV7s supports DC charging up to 37 kilowatts, driver can charge up the vehicle from 20 to 80% in an hour. When plugged into an AC socket, it will take 7 hours to fully charge the 40 kWh battery pack.
<h3>Is JAC iEV7s Available in Europe?</h3>
JAC Motors has made iEV7s available for European countries in 2019. Customers from Italy, Netherlands, Czech Republic and Romania can buy the JAC iEV7s right away. XEV, sub-brand of the Chinese JAC Motors will make iEV7s available for Turkish customers later in the 2021.

XEV iEV7s

Kona Electric 2021 is the new facelifted version of Hyundai’s mid-range electric SUV. It has about the same price tag with Tesla Model 3 SR+. But Kona Electric will give you more range, 415 kilometers thanks to its 64 kWh battery pack.
Hyundai has been producing the Kona Electric since 2018, and yet last year was very struggling for the all-electric SUV because of battery issues causing accidental car fires. But 2021 model does not affected by any ongoing recalls and battery fire warnings.
2021 Kona Electric is available in United States, UK, Australia and most of the Europe. Small SUV will also be coming to Turkey in late 2021.
<h2>Exterior and Interior Design</h2>
Hyundai Kona Electric looks very similiar to its combustion engine rivals. The ordinary SUV exterior design and the simple interior setup are not as unique as Tesla’s design choices.
With the new 2021 model, Hyundai switched to a smoother look on the front of the Kona Electric. Exterior styling-wise, the new front look, new alloy wheels, reshaped bumpers are the main differences between 2021 and 2020 Kona Electric models.
2021 Kona Electric includes a new 10-inch fully digital gauge cluster display, apart from the last year’s infotainment screen with the same display size and a new, a smoother software. New version of the Kona Electric also has the Harmon/Kardon sound system instead of Infinity.
<h2>Performance</h2>
There is only one electric motor option for 2021 Kona Electric, front wheel drive motor unit produces 204 horsepower and 395 Nm of torque. It can go from zero to 100 km per hour in 7.6 secounds, very decent for this price range.
<h3>Is Kona Electric AWD?</h3>
Hyundai Kona Electric is not an AWD (all wheel drive) vehicle. It has only one drivetrain option, single motor FWD. But Hyundai has an AWD all-electric vehicle available right now: Hyundai Ioniq 5. This new battery electric car has two AWD version with Standard and Long Range battery packs.
<h3>Can Hyundai Kona Electric Tow?</h3>
Kona Electric is capable of towing up to 2,800 pounds or 1.270 kilograms. But Hyundai does not recommend towing with the vehicle, because getting rear ended while towing could damage the battery pack and cause a fire. Drivers should keep that in mind and must be very cautious when towing with the Kona Electric.

The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

The BYD Seal U Has Been Launched in China with a Price Starting at $18,040

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

Audi Q6 E-Tron | 255 KM Range with a 10-Minute Charge!

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

South Korean Hyundai is working on modeling a new electric vehicle production method inspired by Tesla&#8217;s &#8216;Giga Casting&#8216;. The new method aims to significantly reduce the cost and increase the production speed significantly.
Since it was introduced at the Fremont factory in 2020, the method has also begun to be implemented in Tesla&#8217;s facilities in China and Germany. Both the front and rear chassis of Model Y and the new Model 3 are produced in one piece. In this way, it is estimated that Tesla spends approximately 10 hours to produce a vehicle from scratch, while Volkswagen needs almost three times more time.

Hyundai has decided to develop its own casting, processing and assembly facility with production planning for 2026. The company also applied for the &#8220;hypercasting&#8221; trademark to the US Patent and Trademark Office on August 21, 2023. Of course, Hyundai is not the only company that wants to implement this production technique. Many brands, including automobile manufacturers such as Volkswagen and Volvo, are involved in similar initiatives.

Hyundai To Develop A “Unibody Chassis” Like Tesla

The 2024 Kona Electric has finally received its initial engine specs and equipment specifics from the manufacturer. Hyundai released a sneak peek at the 2024 Kona family&#8217;s striking design in December 2022, and in January 2023. The company released details on the subcompact crossover&#8217;s gasoline and hybrid engine specifications. Two battery packs—Standard and Long Range—are available for the second-generation Hyundai Kona Electric.
The 48.4 kWh battery pack in the Standard model enables a WLTP-estimated range of 342 kilometers/212 miles, while the 65.4 kWh battery in the Long Range model enables a WLTP-estimated range of 490 kilometers/304 miles.
Both models include an electric motor located up front with an output of 114.6 kW/ 154 hp for the Standard model and 160 kW/214 hp for the Long Range. The maximum torque in both cases is 188 pound-feet/255 newton-meters.
Hyundai claims that the larger battery can be charged from 0-80 % with the fast charger in around 41 minutes. Yet it fails to specify the highest charging speed that the 2024 Kona Electric may handle.
The press release also reveals that the electric crossover has battery preconditioning. This ensures safe charging and range performance over the winter. In addition, it incorporates a heated charging door that is operable in as little as -22° F/-30° C of heat.

The new i-Pedal driving mode, which enables one-pedal operation, and the Smart Regeneration System, which automatically modifies the degree of regenerative braking in response to input from forward traffic flow, are further EV-specific features.
The new Kona EV, according to Hyundai, is one of the biggest cars in the subcompact class. It measures 171.4 in (4,355 mm), 5.9 inches (150 millimeters) longer than its predecessor. EPA published a list of electric cars that scored the highest MPGe, which is the MPG equivalent of the EV world. Hyundai IONIQ 6 is the most efficient electric car, according to EPA. Tesla Model 3 RWD version scored the second best MPGe. It is also the highest MPGe among 2022 model electric vehicles. It can travel 3.91 miles per kWh. Model 3&#8217;s combined energy consumption is 15.8 kWh per 62 miles (100 km).
This electric sedan is the most efficient of its kind, thanks to Tesla&#8217;s state-of-the-art heat pump used for thermal management of the battery pack, and highly-efficient custom design electric motors. Model 3 will increase its efficiency when Tesla update its battery with the new energy-dense 4680 cell and swap the old pack design with much lighter <a href="https://www.licarco.com/news/what-is-structural-battery-ctc-ctb-ev-battery-packs-explained">structural battery pack</a>.
Tesla Model 3 RWD is currently priced at $43,990 in the United States.

Lucid Air Grand Touring variant is the second best, according to EPA&#8217;s efficiency ratings. It scored a 131 MPGe, which translates to 15.9 kWh per 62 miles/100 km. Luxurious sedan can travel up to 3.88 miles for every kWh it consumes.
Co-founded by a former Tesla executive, Lucid Motors has also spent millions for its customly designed battery pack and electric motors. Despite being one of the most luxurious electric vehicles on the market, Lucid Air can achieve high efficiency ratings thanks to its extremely low drag coefficient: 0.21 cd.
Lucid Air Grand Touring costs $154,000 in US. It is three times expensive than the more efficient Model 3. But Air offers a luxurious interior, smooth driving experience, and much higher performance.

Tesla Model Y RWD is the third best in the EPA&#8217;s list. It got an MPGe score of 129, which means Model Y can travel 3.82 miles for every kWh it consumes. Mid-size electric SUV comes with the standard battery pack with 2170 cells. AWD version features a structural battery pack, which is filled with larger 4680 cells. Tesla will use LFP batteries inside entry-level models, while higher trim levels will get the structural pack with Tesla&#8217;s special battery units.
Tesla Model Y RWD is currently not on sale in United States. European pricing starts at €44,890.
