The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. 🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

BP Pulse, the EV charging division of BP, has announced that Europe’s first public charging corridor for medium and heavy-duty electric trucks has been built along a significant logistics route in Germany.
The Rhine-Alpine corridor is one of Europe’s busiest freight routes connecting key North Sea ports in Belgium and the Netherlands with the Mediterranean port of Genoa in Italy connecting through a network of roads stretching in total 1,300km. The new EV charging corridor along this route will have eight e-truck charging stations with ultra-fast 300kw charging sockets.
BP Pulse does not disclose the number of chargers for each station, however, the published press photo shows two chargers, with three connection ports each.
The new chargers have been installed at service stations operated by Aral, BP’s local German retail brand. Each 300kW charging port can charge more than 20 electric trucks daily and can charge up to 200 kilometers (124 miles) in around 45 minutes using ultra-fast charging ports.
There are currently six charging stations along a 600-kilometer stretch of the Rhine-Alpine corridor and another two will be opened at some point in the future. After the final two stations, an electric truck will cover over 600 kilometers across Germany.

Johannes Pallasch, from Germany&#8217;s National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, part of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport said that e-trucks will have a significant role in reducing  CO2 emissions in road freight transport. Also stated that &#8220;As with passenger cars, the switch to electromobility can only succeed with a reliable and needs-based charging infrastructure. With today&#8217;s opening, Aral is taking an important step in this direction.&#8221;
It is estimated that there will be more than 270,000 e-trucks on the road by 2030 in Europe. Those trucks on the road will require up to 140,000 public and destination electric charging ports.

Although Tesla and Panasonic jointly own the Giga Nevada battery facility, the Semi will really go into serial production in the Austin-based Gigafactory Texas. The vehicle assembly line there, however, has not yet begun production. In a brand-new structure next to Reno&#8217;s Gigafactory 1, Tesla builds up a small truck production line with a weekly capacity of five cars.
Approximately 250 Semi trucks would be produced annually. But Tesla has considerably larger ambitions for the vehicle once it moves manufacturing to the Gigafactory in Texas. The EV manufacturer disclosed that it plans to increase Tesla Semi manufacturing to 50,000 cars annually in 2024. However, it appears that the company&#8217;s production goal for 2022 is far more modest, set at 100 Semi electric vehicles.

Tesla Targets to Produce 100 Semi-Electric Trucks by 2023

Daimler Trucks has opened the eTruck Charging Park in partnership with Netze BW, a subsidiary of EnBW.  The charging station is in Wörth, Germany and this is the place where the German company manufactures the all-electric eActros and eEconic trucks.
The charging station for e-trucks is equipped with a total of six different charging units from the companies Siemens, ABB, Ekoenergetyka, and Alpitronic, with outputs between 40 kW and 300 kW on an area of around 2,000 square meters.
Daimler Trucks claims that the customers will have an opportunity to experience the efficiency, range, and charging characteristics of the electric trucks. Also, this will allow customers to develop a complete electric solution for their personal needs with the assistance of the experts on site. The park is also equipped with a photovoltaic system on the roof and an energy storage system. As a “proof of concept”, it is intended to demonstrate possibilities for an efficient power supply for the charging columns.

Michael Scheib, Head of Product Management at Mercedes-Benz Truck states that the main goal of the company is to offer our customers more than just an electric truck in the transformation to e-mobility.  He also says that the German manufacturer intends to provide an integrated solution that includes consulting and charging infrastructure solutions from a single source. “Our charging park for customers in Wörth is an integral part of this approach and shows customers, practically and tangibly, what charging infrastructure for their application can look like,” Scheib adds.
Axel Hausen, Head of eMob Major Projects, Marketing &amp; Special Projects at Netze BW’s Services Division, says: “Besides the technological development of all the necessary components, the development of the electric charging infrastructure is one of the factors crucial to the success of electric heavy-duty transport. Together with our parent company, EnBW, we are contributing a lot of expertise in charging infrastructure and the energy industry to the project. In Wörth, we are working with investors such as e-fleet operators, truck manufacturers, industrial and commercial customers, and municipalities to develop individual charging solutions, especially for depot logistics, that will help electric heavy-duty transport take off.”
Overall, opening a charging park seems to be a different approach to familiarizing potential customers with electric trucks and their specific needs. If this can help convince fleets to switch to EVs, we might see other manufacturers also building similar stations like this.

At the Einride Mesh conference, Swedish company Einride introduced new software and hardware products including design concepts of the Einride Trailer and new features and functionality on the Einride Saga platform.
Einride is a freight technology company founded in 2016 and develops electrified commercial mobility solutions and autonomous Class 8 trucks. The company launched its first EV in 2018 and it’s called T-Log which is an autonomous all-electric logging truck. After the T-Log, the Swedish company unveiled the Pod, which is a similar all-electric, driverless truck. The Pod’s public road tests had begun in 2019 in Sweden and will be on the roads in the US soon.
Einride increasingly invests in the USA and announced last November the plans of having a new headquarters in New York. Also, the freight technology company will start the training of Remote Pod Operators in Texas after the Pod hits the roads.
Along with the Pod trucks, Einride also manufactures E-Trucks with the data-driven Saga OS software to optimize fleets and logistics. In 2022, the Swedish company plans to launch 200 electric Class 8 trucks from BYD in the US and has already partnered with Maersk to increase the electrification of the freight segment.

Einride organized its first-ever Einride Mesh conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, and announced its new product developments along with keynotes, panel discussions, and presentations from leaders in tech and sustainability.
In the event, the Swedish company reveals new updates from Saga operating system which optimize transport business for electric and autonomous shipping fleets by analyzing all physical conditions and routing needs with algorithmic precision.
Lastly, in the Einride Mesh, the concept pictures of the company’s future EV called the E-Trailer were showcased. The new electric vehicle is described as a “design concept” at the conference. Its production will be starting soon, and the test will be in 2023.
Einride’s new e-Trailer will be integrated with other Einride electric and autonomous trucks to provide optimal performance. It will also be compatible with conventional electric semi-trucks. In the press release, it is stated that the E-Trailer can extend the range of over 650km (400 miles) with a single charge.
