The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.
🚗 Equipped with LiDAR sensor-based autonomous driving mode, a new infotainment system powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, and numerous interior design changes, the exact price of the 001 will be revealed upon its release on February 27th.

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

#Tesla has the largest DC charging network in North America. The company is establishing a new station with 164 units in California.
The station, where Supercharger V4 devices will be used, although limited to 250 kW for now, can reach speeds of 350 kW and above. The station draws attention with 16 charging areas designed more broadly for vehicles pulling trailers, caravans or electric trucks.
The station will also include many solar panels and Megapack energy storage units where the energy obtained from them will be stored.

The electric delivery van fleet of Amazon is growing day by day and its size is exceeded 1,000 electric vans. The retail giant has made more than 5 million deliveries in the US with Rivian-made zero-emission vans since earlier this year.
Amazon has overall 30,000 delivery vans and 20,000 trailers in its total fleet, but the number of electric delivery vans is increasing among them, and Rivian will deliver up to 100,000 vans to Amazon. Rivian-made EDVs are started operating in many cities across the US since July.
As the number of EDVs is increasing in Amazon’s fleet, Rivian has accelerated its production of them. The EV company declared that over 7,300 <a href="https://www.licarco.com/rivian-r1t">R1T pickup trucks</a>, <a href="https://www.licarco.com/rivian-r1s">R1S SUVs</a> and EDVs are manufactured between July and September. In the same period, the company delivered 6,584 vehicles.

The goal of Amazon and Rivian to create an electrified delivery fleet has been obstructed by supply chain problems and inflation. When the deal between the two companies was first announced in 2019, 100,000 vans aimed to be on the roads by 2024.  However, now, Amazon changed its projection to 2030. The EV startup Rivian has also <a href="https://www.licarco.com/news/rivian-86-billion-valuation-biggest-ipo">struggled with</a> mass production last year, as delivery-ready vehicles may show severe production-related issues.
The vice president of Amazon Transportation, Udit Madan, said, “We’re always excited for the holiday season, but making deliveries to customers across the country with our new zero-emission vehicles for the first time makes this year unique”. He also stated that over 5 million packages have been delivered with Rivian’s EDVs so far and as the number of EDVs is going up to 100,000, the delivery numbers will grow exponentially.

Amazon to Make Deliveries with over a 1,000 Rivian Electric Vans

At the Einride Mesh conference, Swedish company Einride introduced new software and hardware products including design concepts of the Einride Trailer and new features and functionality on the Einride Saga platform.
Einride is a freight technology company founded in 2016 and develops electrified commercial mobility solutions and autonomous Class 8 trucks. The company launched its first EV in 2018 and it’s called T-Log which is an autonomous all-electric logging truck. After the T-Log, the Swedish company unveiled the Pod, which is a similar all-electric, driverless truck. The Pod’s public road tests had begun in 2019 in Sweden and will be on the roads in the US soon.
Einride increasingly invests in the USA and announced last November the plans of having a new headquarters in New York. Also, the freight technology company will start the training of Remote Pod Operators in Texas after the Pod hits the roads.
Along with the Pod trucks, Einride also manufactures E-Trucks with the data-driven Saga OS software to optimize fleets and logistics. In 2022, the Swedish company plans to launch 200 electric Class 8 trucks from BYD in the US and has already partnered with Maersk to increase the electrification of the freight segment.

Einride organized its first-ever Einride Mesh conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, and announced its new product developments along with keynotes, panel discussions, and presentations from leaders in tech and sustainability.
In the event, the Swedish company reveals new updates from Saga operating system which optimize transport business for electric and autonomous shipping fleets by analyzing all physical conditions and routing needs with algorithmic precision.
Lastly, in the Einride Mesh, the concept pictures of the company’s future EV called the E-Trailer were showcased. The new electric vehicle is described as a “design concept” at the conference. Its production will be starting soon, and the test will be in 2023.
Einride’s new e-Trailer will be integrated with other Einride electric and autonomous trucks to provide optimal performance. It will also be compatible with conventional electric semi-trucks. In the press release, it is stated that the E-Trailer can extend the range of over 650km (400 miles) with a single charge.
Powered by Einride Saga, the carriers using E-Trailer will be notified of load status and cargo process along with the preventive maintenance. Check out the debut video from Einride below:

Prospective buyers of this type of vehicle have great expectations. That may not be perfectly compatible with today&#8217;s modern rechargeable batteries and charging technology at the preferred price point.
Numerous concept vehicles released earlier this year demonstrated that the traditionally conservative RV market is really not perched this one out. Most of the other big players presented a perspective sketch of what&#8217;s in the works in very different forms between the Winnebago e-RV concept and the Thor Vision electric RV concept.
Ford Transit-based Winnebago e-RV has an 86-kWh battery pack and a 125 mile/200 km range enough to satisfy 54% of RV buyers. Thor Industries went in a totally different way. It also included a battery system, a hydrogen fuel cell, and a power generation roof, for a total range of 300 miles/480 km.
Thor recently revealed study results that supported its approach. It conducted its North American Motorized Electric RV study in December 2021. The survey included almost 700 people who had either owned an EV or had some level of RV experience within the previous ten years.

According to research, 97 percent of drivers plan to drive for 3 hours or more prior to actually charging. Roughly half (45%) of survey participants expected to further drive 5 or 6 hours from home before needing to charge. A figure Thor considers to be a perfect balance and approximately steady with a 300 miles/480 km charge.
Almost 1/5 thought that point was 8 or more hours on a charge, implying a range of more than 500 miles/800 km. Despite 300 miles/480 km may be a reasonable goal in a few years. But the greater figure is likely to be a practical impossibility due to constraints.
<h2>Thor Airstream vs Colorado Teardrops</h2>
Along with the electric RV project, Thor unveiled the eStream travel trailer concept earlier this year. An electric camping trailer that would mainly help in providing its own propulsion. It has the capacity to carry 80 kWh of battery capacity. It also adds a rate of change and brake regen that has its own motor system.
