Hyundai Kona Electric is not an AWD (all wheel drive) vehicle. It has only one drivetrain option, single motor FWD. But Hyundai has an AWD all-electric vehicle available right now: Hyundai Ioniq 5. This new battery electric car has two AWD version with Standard and Long Range battery packs.
<h3>Can Hyundai Kona Electric Tow?</h3>
Kona Electric is capable of towing up to 2,800 pounds or 1.270 kilograms. But Hyundai does not recommend towing with the vehicle, because getting rear ended while towing could damage the battery pack and cause a fire. Drivers should keep that in mind and must be very cautious when towing with the Kona Electric.

The BYD Seal U Has Been Launched in China with a Price Starting at $18,040

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

#Toyota has renewed the first electric sedan bZ3, developed together with Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD and its production partner FAW.
The 2024 Toyota bZ3 is offered for sale in China at the same price as the 2023 version (169,800 yuan = ~ $23,650). The vehicle comes with minor physical updates other than new interior trim colors, renewed door trim, and armrest designs.
The bZ3, whose old version was recalled due to two problems, one with the door lock mechanism and the other with the battery management system, promises to offer a smoother experience in the new model.

The electric sedan can cover 517 km on a single charge in standard range according to Chinese standards. It reaches 616 km in long range. It must be said that the long-range bZ3 is quite competitive with its price tag of $26,700.
Toyota has managed to sell more than 23,000 units of the bZ3. The company started producing the vehicle in March 2023. Corolla&#8217;s electric counterpart could be rolled out outside China this year as a joint Toyota-BYD project.

Porsche and Audi are recalling their electric vehicles to prevent fire risk!
Volkswagen&#8217;s two famous car brands, Porsche and Audi, are recalling their 2023 model electric vehicles, including models such as Taycan and e-tron GT, from the market. The reason behind the recall, which covers approximately 7 thousand vehicles, was explained as the danger of liquid leakage due to the insufficiency of the anti-leakage coating in the battery. Audi and Porsche received reports from the supplier Teroson last March and August that the insulation material in electric models was decreasing. There were no further alarming reports after the new anti-leak insulation material was developed the following May. Automotive batteries will be a key investment area, according to Panasonic Group CEO Yuki Kusumi, who made the announcement on May 18 during the Group Strategy Briefing. The Japanese producer recognizes the significant market need for EV batteries, particularly for cylindrical-type cells, and the high market development potential, particularly in North America.
The company is anticipated to construct a few more battery factories later this decade, at least two of which will be in North America.

Panasonic stated that compared to the previous generation, which was introduced in 1994, the current generation of battery cells already has a volumetric energy density that is more than three times greater (about 800 watt-hours per liter). The target is to reach 1,000 Wh/L by 2030.

Panasonic plans to boost the total amount of EV batteries it can produce annually from 50 gigawatt-hours (GWh) to 200 GWh by March 2031, of which about half will be brand-new cylindrical battery cells of the 4680 type.
Although a 300 percent rise in just eight years is remarkable, Panasonic is still far from being the world&#8217;s leading EV battery supplier by volume.

Electrification is the only way legacy automakers can survive, as Tesla and Chinese manufacturers&#8217; success highly approve. But the process of electrifying all their cars is very problematic for the automotive giants. Mercedes-Benz is one big example. This week German firm recalled its <a href="https://www.licarco.com/mercedes-eqc-400-4matic/">EQC</a> electric SUV again! That is the sixth recall issued in mere two years for the same model.
According to the <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://car-recalls.eu/recall/mercedes-benz-eqc-2020-steering-wires-harness/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">car-recalls.eu</a> website, EQC vehicles built between 11 December 2019 and 18 May 2020 are affected. These vehicles may experience steering failure because the wiring harness for the steering control unit may have been damaged during the assembly process, causing water to get inside of this critical part. Autocar estimated that more than 19,000 electric SUVs were recalled to Mercedes services for fixing.
Mercedes is concerned because the affected EQC electric SUVs may lose electric steering support while driving or a short circuit may occur and increase the risk of a fire. These are extremely dangerous failure possibilities. German carmaker advises all EQC owners affected by the manufacturing issue to get an appointment from their local service as soon as possible.
A total of 3,073 EQCs sold in Germany are affected, as Mercedes did not import its first electric SUV to the USA, most of these cars are located in European countries such as Germany, France, Norway, and Turkey.
