The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.
🚗 Equipped with LiDAR sensor-based autonomous driving mode, a new infotainment system powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, and numerous interior design changes, the exact price of the 001 will be revealed upon its release on February 27th.

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

Texas Instruments introduced two new generation tracking chips for battery packs and cells. These chips, which the BMS will utilize (Battery Management System), which is responsible for the management of electric vehicle batteries, manage to reduce the voltage accuracy level from 3.5 mV in the previous generation to 1 mV.

There are thousands of cells in a car battery pack. It is of great importance that charge/discharge cycles are carried out by determining values such as voltage, current, temperature, charge level, and cell health level of each cell. Manufacturers designing increasingly advanced BMS solutions can provide significant efficiency. It enables increasing vehicle range if they can determine the state of the battery with the highest accuracy.
In this regard, USA-based Texas Instruments, one of the largest semiconductor chip suppliers in the industry, can reduce voltage accuracy up to 0.05% with its newly developed battery pack and battery cell monitoring chips. Thus, the battery&#8217;s cell state of charge will be identified 3.5 times more precisely than it is now.

Products with high sensitivity to voltage will provide a serious advantage, especially in batteries equipped with LFP cathode cells. Because LFP batteries&#8217; voltage level is almost constant during the discharge cycle of 70% to 30% due to their chemical structure. For example, LFP batteries are the cell type that puts the BMS&#8217;s hardest in determining the charge level.
Texas Instruments will enable high-accuracy monitoring of LFP batteries with its new chip. These chips work 3.5 times more accurately in voltage monitoring. The company&#8217;s new chips will be able to increase the range by up to 20 % with the existing battery. A highly accurate battery management system will also help to make more accurate range estimations of electric cars.
