If BYD starts construction this year and follows a similar timeline as in Thailand, the factory in Turkey could be operational in about 15 months.
Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD recently announced a $1 billion factory investment in Turkey, mirroring a similar project launched in Thailand.
🗣️ Investment announced: September 2022
🏗️ Construction started: March 2023
🏭 Production commenced: July 2024
If BYD starts construction this year and follows a similar timeline as in Thailand, the factory in Turkey could be operational in about 15 months.
In Thailand, BYD significantly reduced the price of the Atto 3 model after production began. Depending on the conditions of the investment incentive certificate in Turkey, BYD might offer substantial discounts for models like the Atto 3, which currently sells for 1.6 million lira (~$48.750).
Initial production in Turkey will focus on plug-in hybrid vehicles, so it’s too early to speculate on the prices of fully electric BYD models in the country.
