The BYD Seagull, the top-selling car in China after the Tesla Model Y and Geely Xingyuan, has entered the European market. The Dolphin Surf, longer than its Chinese version, starts at 23,000 euros.
The base Dolphin Surf (Seagull) comes with an 88-horsepower motor, 30 kWh battery, and 220 km range. Until the end of June, it’s available for 20,000 euros as part of a promotional campaign.
The mid-tier Dolphin Surf Boost model features a 43.2 kWh battery, 322 km range, and charging speed increasing from 65 to 85 kW. The top-tier Dolphin Surf Comfort comes with a 156 HP motor and a price of 30,990 euros.
All models feature a rotating 10-inch central screen as standard, but no heat pump. Due to the 27% customs duty, there’s a significant gap between European prices and the 10,000-euro starting price in China.
Set to compete with rivals like the Hyundai Inster, Citroen E-C3, and Leapmotor T03, the BYD Dolphin Surf will soon be available for sale in Turkey. Let’s see if it can meet sales expectations with these prices.
