Audi e-tron S is a three-motor electric SUV that has a starting price of €91,000. It is the performance version of the original e-tron. It has 503 horsepower, 973 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 210 km/h. Audi claims that 3-motor powertrain of the e-tron S is a world first in mass production cars. Two of the electric motors operate on the rear, while front axle running the third motor.

e-tron S launched in 2020 as the “S”port variant of the e-tron electric SUV. Audi used Q7’s underpinnings as a reference for this electric SUV. It does feel very heavy as a result, but performance-wise e-tron S is capable of doing 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

There are two variants of e-tron S, one with the ‘normal’ SUV-style back and the other with coupe-like Sportback. Both versions use the 95-kWh battery pack to feed energy into this 2.6 tons overweighted electric vehicle.

    Performance

With their 3-motor powertrain, e-tron S 55 quattro and e-tron S Sportback 55 quattro can produce 503 HP and 973 Nm torque. Thanks to an extra motor, e-tron S 55 can run 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, 1.2 seconds faster than the dual motor e-tron variant. It can also reach a top speed of 210 km/h.

Despite being one of the fattest SUVs around, e-tron S is definitely also one of the fastest. Acceleration performance is beyond its segment. It is definitely a high-performance SUV with instant electrical torque as soon as you push the pedal.

    Design and Features

As from the look of it, you can safely say that Audi e-tron S is a spacious vehicle. It even has a 7-seat option. e-tron S’s unique grille is the most important element keeping it apart from the combustion engine Audis. The grille has vertical lines and due to the aerodynamics, it is partially closed.

Audi e-tron S has charging ports on each side and charge doors automatically lift open and close with push of a button.

Exterior of the e-tron S does not look beyond its time or anything, unlike most other EVs. Because Audi wants its customers to feel like they’re driving a vehicle not much different than petrol/diesel engine cars. German carmaker accomplished that so far with the e-tron models.

On the inside, virtual cockpit display behind the steering wheel provides you with tons of features via steering wheel controls, as a result, you don’t need to use other screens very often. 12.1-inch infotainment system in the e-tron S supports wireless Apple CarPlay. Audi just recently started supporting the wireless Android Auto, as well.

There is a secondary display just below the infotainment system. 8.9-inch screen is mostly dedicated to climate control. But when you want to enter a destination to the navigation system, this screen turns into a pad where you can easily write your destination. Back seat passengers also have a climate control touchscreen, and two USB ports for charging their mobile devices.

    Range and Charging

Audi e-tron S 55 and e-tron S Sportback 55 have a 95-kWh battery pack. Both models have a range of 374 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.

DC charging speed is 150 kWh with the e-tron S. Charging the vehicle from 10 percent to 80% will take less than 30 minutes. Newest versions of the e-tron S can be equipped with 22-kW on-board AC charger, but standard vehicles only have the 11-kW charger.
