Two and a half years after its launch, the Tesla Semi is officially entering series production. Tesla is hiring over 1,000 workers for its electric truck factory in Nevada.
The series production version of the Semi, with a smaller battery, will achieve an 800 km range, likely transitioning to Tesla’s self-produced 4680 cells. According to details shared yesterday, battery capacity was reduced thanks to a 7.3% efficiency improvement, lowering both weight and cost.
Featuring a 1,000V electrical architecture, ~800 kWh battery, a three-motor power system exceeding 1,000 horsepower, 1 MW charging speed, and the ability to charge to 80% in 30 minutes, the Tesla Semi will be supported by a US ultra-fast charging network across 46 locations.
Tesla’s Semi factory, set to enter series production by the end of 2025, will produce 50,000 electric trucks annually.
