🟢 Stellantis, which invested €1.5 billion in the Chinese electric car venture #Leapmotor last year, plans to produce the brand’s vehicles in Italy.
🏭 Already in talks with the Italian government to increase production capacity, #Stellantis aims to start Leapmotor production in Italy with an annual capacity of 150,000 units by 2026 or 2027. The Mirafiori factory, where Maserati and the electric Fiat 500 are produced, seems like the most reasonable option.
🔋 Leapmotor, which sold 144,000 electric vehicles in 2023, entrusted its European operations to Stellantis, its 21% partner. With production starting in Europe within a few years, the Chinese company will not only be relieved of tax burden but also benefit from incentives for electric vehicles in Europe.
