Semi-solid state battery with 1,000 km range unveiled!

Utilizing a semi-solid electrolyte and silicon-heavy anode, the company achieved a gravimetric energy density of 300 Wh/kg and a volumetric energy density of 720 Wh/L. Already being tested by brands like Chery, these batteries, named 'G Yuan,' are expected to be used in several automotive projects soon.

The battery is projected to have a lifespan of at least 500,000 kilometers and can charge from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes. Its high energy density enables ranges exceeding 1,000 kilometers in a D-segment vehicle.

Gotion has built a 10 GWh facility for semi-solid state battery production while also advancing fully solid-state cell development. The company announced that its first 0.2 GWh production line is operational, producing solid-state cells with 350 Wh/kg energy density at 90% efficiency.

Gotion High-Tech, in which Volkswagen holds a 24% stake, is the world’s sixth-largest battery producer according to recent data. The rapidly growing company predicts that semi-solid state batteries will dominate the next five years, while fully solid-state batteries will account for only 3% of the market by 2030.
