The new BMW iX3, built on the Neue Klasse platform, will be unveiled next month at IAA Mobility 2025.
📌The battery pack, designed as part of the chassis, uses 4695 cylindrical cells produced by EVE Energy.
📌The structural pack design enhances safety and energy density, with dual-sided cooling channels ensuring high performance in all conditions.
📌The battery, consisting of 960 cells, is divided into two 400-volt sections. It supports 800V charging and has a net capacity of 108 kWh.
📌The powertrain includes a silicon carbide chip inverter, an EESM (externally excited synchronous motor) that doesn’t require rare-earth magnets, and an asynchronous induction motor at the front. EESM motors, used in BMW vehicles for years, boost efficiency at high speeds and enable high precision.
📌Thanks to the new battery and powertrain, BMW reports a 20% reduction in energy consumption compared to the previous iX3, achieving an average of 15 kWh per 100 km. With the 800V architecture, a 10-minute charge can provide a 350 km range.
