Mercedes-Benz reported a 9% annual decline in Q2 2025, selling 453,700 vehicles. Electric vehicle sales fell by 24%, with only 35,000 units sold in the last quarter. In the first half of 2025, total electric vehicle sales reached 75,700, rising to 87,300 when including commercial vehicles.
However, demand for the electric sedan CLA has exceeded expectations, with new orders not deliverable before 2026. With daily CLA production at 200 units, Mercedes aims to reverse the sales decline in September with the new electric SUV GLC. The largest share of the sales drop comes from China, where sales fell 19% annually (140,400 units in Q2 2025), despite being Mercedes’ top market.
China’s rapid shift to electric vehicles, with over 50% of total sales being electric, has thrust Mercedes into a fierce survival battle.
