After leading various projects from software to motors, batteries to lithium production for 18 years, Drew Baglino has left Tesla.
With approximately 14,000 employees, representing 10% of the workforce, set to part ways with Tesla in the coming days, a comprehensive restructuring has officially begun.
In addition to Baglino, Rohan Patel responsible for business development and policies, also announced his departure from the upper management. This marks the first major executive change since CFO Zach Kirkhorn’s departure in August 2023.
Elon emphasized the need for periodic renewal for the company to sustain its growth targets, and so far, he has successfully drawn significant efficiency from young executives developed internally. It’s anticipated that filling the vacant positions won’t pose much of a challenge.
With Tesla falling behind its targets in high-volume 4680 cell production, starting its own cathode active material production, and in its robotaxi projects, it remains to be seen whether Tesla can progress at the pace Elon desires in the upcoming period.
