Chinese automaker BYD’s off-road-focused sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, has introduced its first fully electric model.
The 4.6-meter-long Tai 3 stands out with a starting price of around $19,000. The base model comes equipped with a 65 kWh LFP battery, a 501 km range, a 160 kW rear-wheel-drive motor, 18-minute charging from 30% to 80%, the DiPilot 100 ADAS driving system, and advanced off-road features that detect road conditions and optimize the driving system.
A higher-tier version, priced at $22,500, offers a 422 HP all-wheel-drive powertrain, 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, a 73 kWh battery, a 501 km range, an 800V architecture, a silicon carbide chip inverter with 99.86% efficiency, a 237 kW DC charging speed, and 50% charge in 18 minutes.
The top-tier Fang Cheng Bao Tai 3, priced at $28,000, includes a custom drone system integrated into the vehicle by DJI. This feature allows users to capture photos and videos with a drone that follows the vehicle during trips.
BYD’s first off-road-focused electric SUV will begin deliveries to customers this month.
