🟢#BYD laid the foundation of the giant sodium ion battery factory, which it announced last year that it would establish together with Chinese micro electric vehicle manufacturer Huahai.

🏭The project, implemented in Xuzhou, China, with an investment of 1.4 billion #dollars, will produce sodium ion cells and packages with a capacity of 30 GWh per year when all stages are completed.

⚡Sodium ion batteries, which promise a 30-40% cost advantage compared to lithium-ion, will be used in the new models of Huaihai Holding Group, one of China’s largest micro electric vehicle manufacturers.

🚗The Chinese manufacturer opened a facility in Xuzhou, where the sodium battery factory was established, in June 2023, producing 1 million sodium battery vehicles annually.

🔋BYD also aims to launch its sodium battery cars.
