Rho Motion reports that approximately 7 million plug-in vehicles (electric, plug-in hybrids, range extenders) were sold globally in the first six months of 2024, with China leading with over 4.1 million sales, marking a 30% increase in YoY.

The distribution of these sales is as follows:

– 🇨🇳 China: 4.1 million (+30%)

– 🇪🇺 Europe: 1.5 million (+1%)

– 🌎 North America: 0.8 million (+10%)

– 🌐 Other Countries: 0.6 million (+26%)

– 🇹🇷 Turkey: 39,405 (+175%)

While growth in #Europe has nearly stalled, #China now accounts for nearly 60% of the global electric vehicle market with over 4 million units sold.

Total global sales of fully electric vehicles have surpassed 4.5 million. #RhoMotion has revised its year-end forecast for all plug-in vehicle sales down by 5%, to 16.6 million.

The firm also notes that the global battery market, including power batteries and energy storage systems, has reached 512 GWh. The second half of the year may see even higher growth in China’s electric vehicle sales, potentially exceeding current forecasts.
