The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.

All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. 🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

Skeleton Technologies is preparing to produce &#8216;super batteries&#8217; that can be charged in 30 seconds with the &#8216;curved graphene&#8217; it has developed. The company has raised 108 million euros in the latest investment round by Siemens.
The graphene battery stands out with a lifespan of up to 50,000 charging cycles and the potential to be fully charged in 30 seconds. The company is planned to be used as a battery in heavy electric vehicles especially in mining and as an energy storage solution in high-speed charging stations.
The Latvia-based company is building a facility in Germany where it can produce 12 million cells a year. The last investment raised is expected to be spent on this facility.
Skeleton&#8217;s super battery can only be used for short-term storage because it is actually a supercapacitor. It provides great superiority over the lithium-ion battery with a power density of 10 kW/kg. In addition, its energy density of 65 Wh/kg makes it difficult to integrate into passenger cars. Nevertheless, it seems to be unrivaled in the mining and charging sectors in terms of short-term storage and responding to high power needs.

30-Second Rechargeable ‘Super Battery’ Manufacturer Skeleton Receives 108 Million Euro Investment

Togg announced that it has established DC charging stations in 63 provinces so far and that it will start to provide charging services in all 81 provinces by the end of June. The Turkish automaker has already managed to activate 198 charging units at 153 different locations.
Togg, which established a new company called Trugo for the charging network operation, added almost 200 units to its platform in a few months. The ultimate goal in the first phase is to surpass the 600 high-speed charger threshold.

Daimler Trucks has opened the eTruck Charging Park in partnership with Netze BW, a subsidiary of EnBW.  The charging station is in Wörth, Germany and this is the place where the German company manufactures the all-electric eActros and eEconic trucks.
The charging station for e-trucks is equipped with a total of six different charging units from the companies Siemens, ABB, Ekoenergetyka, and Alpitronic, with outputs between 40 kW and 300 kW on an area of around 2,000 square meters.
Daimler Trucks claims that the customers will have an opportunity to experience the efficiency, range, and charging characteristics of the electric trucks. Also, this will allow customers to develop a complete electric solution for their personal needs with the assistance of the experts on site. The park is also equipped with a photovoltaic system on the roof and an energy storage system. As a “proof of concept”, it is intended to demonstrate possibilities for an efficient power supply for the charging columns.

Michael Scheib, Head of Product Management at Mercedes-Benz Truck states that the main goal of the company is to offer our customers more than just an electric truck in the transformation to e-mobility.  He also says that the German manufacturer intends to provide an integrated solution that includes consulting and charging infrastructure solutions from a single source. “Our charging park for customers in Wörth is an integral part of this approach and shows customers, practically and tangibly, what charging infrastructure for their application can look like,” Scheib adds.
Axel Hausen, Head of eMob Major Projects, Marketing &amp; Special Projects at Netze BW’s Services Division, says: “Besides the technological development of all the necessary components, the development of the electric charging infrastructure is one of the factors crucial to the success of electric heavy-duty transport. Together with our parent company, EnBW, we are contributing a lot of expertise in charging infrastructure and the energy industry to the project. In Wörth, we are working with investors such as e-fleet operators, truck manufacturers, industrial and commercial customers, and municipalities to develop individual charging solutions, especially for depot logistics, that will help electric heavy-duty transport take off.”
Overall, opening a charging park seems to be a different approach to familiarizing potential customers with electric trucks and their specific needs. If this can help convince fleets to switch to EVs, we might see other manufacturers also building similar stations like this.

The American home is one of the most difficult barriers standing between the car-buying public and the EVs revolution. Many homes lack garages and many others have outdated electrical systems, making it challenging. It is expensive to start, or completely impractical to charge EVs at home. However, Siemens &amp; ConnectDER have developed one that appears to be successful.
The home EV charging system solution from ConnectDER is a retrofittable collar that attaches to the energy meter box, saving time and money without needing to upgrade other components of the domestic electrical system. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority&#8217;s &#8220;High Performing Grid&#8221; award of $1.5 million was given to ConnectDER in December of last year after they began testing the collar in New York City.
According to ConnectDER, the money will help the company create and market its next-gen meter collar adapters. It will allow quick, affordable, and all-encompassing connections of electricity and data to DERs including solar, energy storage, and EVs.
The grant in question is an external initiative that uses DERS at a detailed level to support grid stability and dependability. As a result, the new collar feeds into both the dispersed energy resources movement and the trend toward virtual power plants.
Rooftop solar &amp; home EV charging systems are simply two components of the building electrified movement, as the VPP viewpoint is important. Additionally, the popularity of heat pumps is surging.
<h2>Still Better Option for Home EV Charging</h2>
As soon as ConnectDER and the two businesses revealed a contract the week before, Siemens entered the game. The deal calls for Siemens to receive exclusivity on ConnectDER&#8217;s new plug-in adapter for Evs charging system.
According to Siemens, &#8220;The innovative device will allow owners of electric vehicles (EVs) to charge EVs by connecting chargers directly through the meter socket, an accessible and practical point in every home. &#8220;The adapter will save an estimated 60 to 80 percent of the charger installation cost by avoiding the requirement for electric panel changes,&#8221; according to the manufacturer.
Nearly half of US houses would require an upgrade in order to install Level 2 EV charging stations, which they characterize as a 7-11kW system demanding 40-60 amps on a 240V line.

Siemens has already established a sizable presence in the sector, and its clout in the EV charging industry is growing quickly.
