Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the Korean carmaker’s first ever fully dedicated battery electric car. It is built on a unique platform, e-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) developed by Hyundai and Kia together.
Compared to <a href="https://www.licarco.com/2021-tesla-model-3-performance/">Tesla Model 3</a> and <a href="https://www.licarco.com/polestar-2-long-range-dual-motor/">Polestar 2</a>, Ioniq 5 looks like a boxy hatchback, Hyundai calls it a crossover. Fastest Ioniq 5 can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. It has a moveable center console on the inside, safety features like blindspot indicator, lane keeping, and remote parking capabilities.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Performance</h2>
Ioniq 5 has two battery pack options, Standard Range version offers 58 kWh capacity, whereas Long Range models will be equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery. Hyundai also offers two drivetrains for both of these battery options. RWD has a single electric motor and up to 217 horsepower. Those who wants to get more power will choose the AWD option for dual motors and up to 306 HP. It can tow a caravan up to 1,600 kilos of weight.
The stalk behind the steering wheel allows driver to easily change gear, put the vehicle on parking mode etc. Ioniq 5’s smooth driving experience will improve with very clever blindspot indicator feature. Whenever you put an indicator on, cameras from the each side of the vehicle will show you the blindspots, making Ioniq 5 much more safer to drive. There’s also a head-up display (HUD) that includes the vehicle’s speed, navigation etc.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Design and Features</h2>
In terms of appearance, Hyundai Ioniq 5 looks like a hatchback, but it’s actually a crossover, or an all-electric CUV. When Hyundai designed the new Ioniq 5, they took a lot of inspiration from the first vehicle they actually manufactured. It is the Hyundai Pony from the 1980s. It has got a very interest retro design, standing out from the crowd with its boxy shape. The headlights and taillights which use square shaped LEDs are also retro styled.
In profile, Ioniq 5 has an enormous wheelbase of over three meters, longer than a Range Rover Sport, which give this electric Hyundai plenty of space inside.
On the front of the vehicle, there is a little frunk, enough for a few grocery bags or a backpack, not even close to the capacity Teslas and <a href="https://www.licarco.com/ford-mustang-mach-e-gt/">Ford Mustang Mach-E</a> offer.
The interior of the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is as unique as its exterior design. Modular design allows Hyundai to equip its new vehicle with two 12 inch displays, one for the full-touch infotainment system, and the other acting as a digital gauge cluster. Thanks to its long wheelbase and flat floor, Ioniq 5’s center console can slide back almost 15 centimeters, creating a spacious car experience for the driver and passengers.
The Ioniq 5 got five USB ports, a 220V outlet for any tools and gadgets you want to power, a glove draw instead of a traditional glovebox, seats that can be almost fully recline, Bose sound system etc.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Range and Charging</h2>
Ioniq 5 has the fastest charging technology in its segment. There are two charging systems, 400 volt and 800 volt electrical arcitectures available for the Ioniq 5. With the highest setup, all-electric CUV can be charged with 350 kW DC plugs, from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 18 minutes.
There is also the V2L (Vehicle to Load) feature that turn Ioniq 5 into a power source for your electronic devices, and simple tools that can be powered via a simple outlet. It allows a charging speed up to 3.6 kW. It is even possible to charge another electric vehicle with Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.
🚗 Equipped with LiDAR sensor-based autonomous driving mode, a new infotainment system powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, and numerous interior design changes, the exact price of the 001 will be revealed upon its release on February 27th.

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

First Images of the Electric Range Rover Velar!

Land Rover introduced the updated Range Rover Velar. The company aims to bring new styles and technology for 2023 in fact. While it may be tough to detect the improvements exterior, the Velar&#8217;s inside has undergone a complete overhaul. The PHEV model has gained a larger battery and an increased range. The Range Rover Velar was unveiled in 2017 and redesigned two years later. This time around, improvements are more substantial in an effort to pique consumer interest in the stylish SUV.
Starting with the Velar&#8217;s appearance hasn&#8217;t aged well after six years. As a result, its designers focused only on minute details. The updated Pixel LED headlamp graphics, the new grille pattern modeled after the new Range Rover, the &#8220;super LED&#8221; taillights, and the slightly altered diffuser/skid plate on the rear bumper are a few of these changes. The new Metallic Varesine Blue and Premium Metallic Zadar Grey hues complete the expansion of the color pallet.
<h2>Land Rover Claims That 80% of Actions May be Completed on The Home Screen </h2>
The center console now features a more straightforward and contemporary look, replacing the twin touchscreen arrangement of the previous Velar. Interior improvements are far more extensive. The new 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen is the focal point and now incorporates all features, including temperature controls.

Therefore, other than the controls positioned on the steering wheel, the Velar has no physical controls of any type. Land Rover claims that 80% of actions may be completed on the home screen with just two touches. The Pivi Pro7&#8217;s infotainment, navigation, onboard diagnostics, chassis, and engine may all benefit from over-the-air improvements.
The Active Road Noise Cancellation function of the optional Meridian 3D Surround Sound System, which has 17 speakers, according to Land Rover, gives the Velar&#8217;s cabin the quietest interior in its category. The Cabin Air Purification Plus filtering system will further assure that the air is completely pure.

The plug-in hybrid Range Rover Velar P400e now boasts a new 19.2 kWh lithium-ion battery (up from 13.6 kWh). As a result, the EV range in the WLTP cycle has increased by 11 km/7 miles over its predecessor to 64 km/40 miles. Once connected to a 50 kW charger, the new battery is also capable of quick DC charging, moving from 0-80% in 30 minutes. A typical 7 kW AC charger needs 2.5 hours to complete a full charge.
The remaining engines are available in both gasoline and diesel, with the majority of them including 48-Volt mild-hybrid technology. All of them are solely linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels. While Electronic Air Suspension is an option, Adaptive Dynamics (active suspension) is a standard feature on all six-cylinder and PHEV models.
In the UK, Europe, and Australia, the 2024 Range Rover Velar is now available for ordering. The new Velar costs between £54,045/$66,600 and £79,825/$98,369 in the UK. While prices there vary from AU$106,150/$75,093 to AU$157,900/$111,702 in Australia. Prices for the 2.0L turbo model start at $61,500 and go up to $78,400 for the 3.0L six-cylinder vehicle in the United States.
