Polestar 3 is Volvo&#8217;s first vehicle to include a LiDAR sensor. Electric SUV can be bought with a Luminar LiDAR, which is included in the Pilot Pack. 
Polestar 3 deliveries will start in the fourth quarter of 2023. Initially, the production is planned to begin in Volvo Cars&#8217; Chengdu, China plant from mid-2023. Polestar 3 pre-orders will be accepted starting early next year. 
Volvo&#8217;s North Carolina factory will also start manufacturing Polestar 3 in 2024. US pricing of this beautifully designed SUV will be announced later.

Polestar 3

Polestar 6 is the production version of the highly popular concept called Polestar O2. It will be based on Swedish automaker&#8217;s in-house vehicle platform. This new platform will allow Volvo to use giant castings like Tesla&#8217;s Giga Press. Future Polestar and Volvo EVs, including Polestar 6, will be much lighter than current generation models. 
Customers who signed up for the Polestar 6 unfortunately will have to wait until 2026. In the mean time, you can watch its official introduction video down below.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the Korean carmaker’s first ever fully dedicated battery electric car. It is built on a unique platform, e-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) developed by Hyundai and Kia together.
Compared to <a href="https://www.licarco.com/2021-tesla-model-3-performance/">Tesla Model 3</a> and <a href="https://www.licarco.com/polestar-2-long-range-dual-motor/">Polestar 2</a>, Ioniq 5 looks like a boxy hatchback, Hyundai calls it a crossover. Fastest Ioniq 5 can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. It has a moveable center console on the inside, safety features like blindspot indicator, lane keeping, and remote parking capabilities.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Performance</h2>
Ioniq 5 has two battery pack options, Standard Range version offers 58 kWh capacity, whereas Long Range models will be equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery. Hyundai also offers two drivetrains for both of these battery options. RWD has a single electric motor and up to 217 horsepower. Those who wants to get more power will choose the AWD option for dual motors and up to 306 HP. It can tow a caravan up to 1,600 kilos of weight.
The stalk behind the steering wheel allows driver to easily change gear, put the vehicle on parking mode etc. Ioniq 5’s smooth driving experience will improve with very clever blindspot indicator feature. Whenever you put an indicator on, cameras from the each side of the vehicle will show you the blindspots, making Ioniq 5 much more safer to drive. There’s also a head-up display (HUD) that includes the vehicle’s speed, navigation etc.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Design and Features</h2>
In terms of appearance, Hyundai Ioniq 5 looks like a hatchback, but it’s actually a crossover, or an all-electric CUV. When Hyundai designed the new Ioniq 5, they took a lot of inspiration from the first vehicle they actually manufactured. It is the Hyundai Pony from the 1980s. It has got a very interest retro design, standing out from the crowd with its boxy shape. The headlights and taillights which use square shaped LEDs are also retro styled.
In profile, Ioniq 5 has an enormous wheelbase of over three meters, longer than a Range Rover Sport, which give this electric Hyundai plenty of space inside.
On the front of the vehicle, there is a little frunk, enough for a few grocery bags or a backpack, not even close to the capacity Teslas and <a href="https://www.licarco.com/ford-mustang-mach-e-gt/">Ford Mustang Mach-E</a> offer.
The interior of the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is as unique as its exterior design. Modular design allows Hyundai to equip its new vehicle with two 12 inch displays, one for the full-touch infotainment system, and the other acting as a digital gauge cluster. Thanks to its long wheelbase and flat floor, Ioniq 5’s center console can slide back almost 15 centimeters, creating a spacious car experience for the driver and passengers.
The Ioniq 5 got five USB ports, a 220V outlet for any tools and gadgets you want to power, a glove draw instead of a traditional glovebox, seats that can be almost fully recline, Bose sound system etc.
<h2>Ioniq 5 Range and Charging</h2>
Ioniq 5 has the fastest charging technology in its segment. There are two charging systems, 400 volt and 800 volt electrical arcitectures available for the Ioniq 5. With the highest setup, all-electric CUV can be charged with 350 kW DC plugs, from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 18 minutes.
There is also the V2L (Vehicle to Load) feature that turn Ioniq 5 into a power source for your electronic devices, and simple tools that can be powered via a simple outlet. It allows a charging speed up to 3.6 kW. It is even possible to charge another electric vehicle with Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.

⚡StoreDot is a solid state battery initiative. It has very important investors such as #Volvo, VinFast and BP. The initiative introduced its battery solution in which long thin cells are directly integrated into the chassis.
🟢Although it is a solid state battery initiative, It initially developed was a silicon anode lithium ion cell. The initiative says that the first prototype using the solution called XFC will hit the roads this year.
🚙The initiative increases the energy density above 320 Wh/kg thanks to the battery integrated into the chassis and promises more efficient thermal management with its integrated cooling system. #Polestar, the sub-brand of #Volvo sold 54,000 electric cars in 2023. The company announced today that its second model, Polestar 4, has officially started to be delivered.
The car draws attention with its extraordinary design without a rear window due to its coupe SUV form. It was put into mass production in China by #Geely, the owner of Volvo, in November 2023. The first deliveries also took place in China. It was announced that sales in Europe and Australia will start in the coming weeks.
Polestar 4 comes with a CATL-produced NMC battery with a capacity of 102 kWh. It became the second mass production car of the brand. The third model, Polestar 3, which can be considered the equivalent of the Volvo EX90, will be launched in the summer of 2024.

Critical battery investment from Chinese Geely in the USA!
Geely one of China&#8217;s largest automobile groups is buying Proterra Powered. The company has been operating in the field of battery supply for electric buses and commercial vehicles in the USA for 20 years for $ 210 million!
Proterra Powered is a battery and motor manufacturer affiliated with Proterra, which filed for bankruptcy protection in August 2023 due to difficulties in supplying battery cells and seeking funding. 20 years of experience and customer portfolio will be transferred to the Chinese with the agreement.
Proterra Powered&#8217;s battery solutions were previously used by Anadolu Isuzu in Turkey for the Citi VOLT electric bus. The company has a battery pack/module development center in California and a battery assembly plant in South Carolina.
Geely made the $210 million purchase through the Sweden-based Volvo Group The Group operates within its own organisation, and can use Proterra&#8217;s battery experience in Volvo brand commercial vehicles as well as passenger cars.
The Chinese giant, which was preparing to launch its Zeekr sub-brand, which produces only electric cars, to the stock market in the USA, was planning to expand its sales network in Europe in 2024, while in 2025 it had the desire to open up to the US market. In a possible US car factory investment, Proterra&#8217;s battery facilities could be a great advantage for Zeekr.
The company recently announced that another brand, Polestar, will be produced in South Korea in agreement with Renault to avoid 2.5%+25% customs duty in the US.

Critical Battery Investment In The US By Chinese Geely

Renault and Polestar will produce electric vehicles in South Korea to avoid customs duty.
Polestar, which separated from Volvo and turned into an independent EV brand, pays 2.5%+25% customs duty when importing its vehicles produced in China to the USA. In order to get rid of this tax, the company signed a cooperation agreement with Renault.
Geely bought a 34% stake in Renault&#8217;s operations in South Korea with an investment of approximately $ 190 million last year. Under this partnership, the Polestar 4 model will be produced at Renault&#8217;s South Korean plant in 2025. Geely also owns Polestar.

The factory in Busan, previously known as Renault Samsung Motors, has an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles. EPA published a list of electric cars that scored the highest MPGe, which is the MPG equivalent of the EV world. Hyundai IONIQ 6 is the most efficient electric car, according to EPA. Electric sedan&#8217;s RWD Long Range version scored a 140 MPGe. The second most efficient model is the 2022&#8217;s champion, Tesla Model 3. Popular sedan&#8217;s RWD variant got an MPGe score of 132. The third most efficient electric car is also an American-made: Lucid Air. Another Tesla vehicle, Model Y got the fourth place in EPA&#8217;s most efficient EVs ranking. Tesla&#8217;s all four models made it into the list. There are also three Hyundai, two Kia, and two Chevrolet models.

Polestar To Debut First Electric SUV In Last Quarter Of 2022

One of the biggest challenges of the EV industry is to provide longer ranges with a single charge. That’s why companies try to develop batteries that can be charged as fast as possible.
Polestar has officially announced that it will make its first financial investment in Israeli battery technology innovator, StoreDot.
StoreDot is the pioneer in manufacturing extreme fast charging (XFC) batteries that will overcome the range and charging anxiety of the EV industry. StoreDot&#8217;s strategic investors and partners include Daimler, BP, VinFast, Volvo, Ola Electric, Samsung, TDK, and the manufacturing partner EVE Energy.
<h2>Revolutionizing the battery architecture</h2>
Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingelath says that “Charging and range anxiety are common concerns holding owners of combustion engine cars back from making the switch to EVs. Store Dot’s advanced battery technology potentially provides real solutions to these obstacles.”
The company has revolutionized the conventional Li-ion battery and has been using two different techniques to produce XFC batteries.
The first technique of StoreDot is to replace the conventional graphite in the battery’s anode with silicon nanoparticles, synthesized together with proprietary small-molecule organic compounds. The Israeli company says that this mix overcomes the inherent challenges of the silicon such as its expansion during the charging cycles and the subsequent energy loss.
Secondly, the battery manufacturer company developed a hybrid-solid electrolyte, which creates a low-resistance flow of ions between the battery’s electrodes, increasing energy density.

Through its ‘100inX’ product roadmap, StoreDot is confident that its batteries will deliver 160 km/100 miles of charge in five minutes by 2024, three minutes by 2028, and just two minutes by 2032. In other words, this will be the same time it takes to refuel a conventional combustion engine car.
With this partnership, StoreDot will adapt and apply its technology to the prototypes of Polestar’s EVs. If this pilot program becomes successful, the company will put its fast-charging batteries into Polestars by 2026.
