The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

Honda formally unveiled its innovative system of interchangeable battery charging and exchange stations. It is called as Honda Power Pack Exchanger. Honda Mobile Power Packs, which the company already debuted in 2021, are intended to be used with it. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will make use of the first such HPPEe in an effort to disseminate electric motorbikes throughout the city.
Gachaco, the new battery exchanging company that Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki merged to establish back in March 2022, has also received the HPPEe.
In India, where the battery packs will power electric three-wheeled rickshaw taxis, the new charging hub units for Honda Mobile Power Pack e: battery packs will also be used. A local Honda company named Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt. Ltd will make usage in this market easier.

According to Honda, all crucial operations will be managed by the Honda Power Pack Cloud. This platform will control essential elements such as the battery&#8217;s positioning, charging activity, user identification, and billing. Honda Unveils a Battery-Powered Charging Station in Japan.

Japan&#8217;s four major motorcycle original equipment manufacturers—Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha—have been collaborating on interchangeable electric vehicle batteries and associated systems since 2019.
The companies compromised on a single EV standard that their interchangeable batteries must fulfill in March 2021. That, like systematic charging plugs for our electronic devices, should make life so much easier for customers, so it appeared to be a positive move. Honda had unveiled its new Mobile Power Pack by November 2021. It was significant because that was the first component to match the Big Four&#8217;s battery swapping criteria.
The Fantastic Four have just publicly stated their next step in this project. The consortium is forming a new company named Gachaco in collaboration with the Japanese petroleum company Eneos. The new company was officially established on April 1, 2022. Its two objectives will be to share formalized swappable batteries for electric motorcycles and to develop the required infrastructure to accommodate this service.

Eneos refers to its future vision as &#8220;Battery-as-a-Service,&#8221; or BaaS. As environmental considerations grow, it is more essential than ever to incorporate a recycling plan into the life cycle of a major energy shift like this. Whilst still there will undoubtedly be discussion as to whether this step is too late, it just about undoubtedly has to be preferable to doing nothing at all.
Moreover, Gachaco goes on to say it plans to launch its battery sharing service in Japan in the autumn of 2022. To proceed, it will be powered by the Honda Mobile Power Pack. It is unclear when or if additional swappable battery options will be available in the near future. The rollout will take place in Tokyo and other major Japanese cities, and will take place in suitable, strategic points such as rail stations and Eneos service centers.
Gachaco&#8217;s plans for going global are unknown at this time. Individual countries, as well as the European Union overall, have worked at different rates to integrate more electric vehicle options.
